Amy was absolutely phenomenal! I could tell immediately that she cared- and her intake process was extensive (gave me peace of mind that she wanted to know about all aspects of my life). Her process was gentle- yet effective, and I definitely felt a difference in my hips the next day. I have also received regular massage work from her, (one of the most cleansing and healing massages I have ever had) that helped me recover from emotional and physical trauma. Amy is a gem! I highly recommend her.

About me

I am a massage therapist specializing in pre- & postpartum massage, Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® and good old fashioned Swedish & deep tissue massage. I have a passion for women’s wellness, stemming from my own journey with Hashimoto’s autoimmune condition. I believe in slowing down, taking the time to move your body in ways that feel good for YOU, eating good food with good people, stopping to smell the roses, developing a deep connection to your intuition and clearing negative mental chatter. I believe we all have the ability to heal and that healing comes from within - touch through massage helps to focus the body, soothe the nervous system and release “feel good” hormones like oxytocin.

My style of massage varies based on the needs of the client, but I generally like to work slowly and firmly to ensure the tissues release as much as possible on any given day (though I love clients who like light pressure or where I can just flow). I utilize Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, flowing Swedish strokes, rocking, traction and breath work to help you to relax fully. If I feel it would benefit you, I would love to share information about how the body works and ways you can make waves in your self-care off of the massage table. I am constantly reading, trading massages and taking courses to add to my skillset.

You can find me at Sanctuary Healing Arts Tuesday afternoons from 3-9pm, Wednesdays & Fridays from 9 to 3 & during the day on Saturdays. I am available for house calls for Sanctuary Healing Arts postpartum doula clients on alternating Wednesdays & Saturdays, and for private clients on Thursdays.

In my spare time you will find me in my garden, on the yoga mat, in the kitchen, listening to music, curled up with a good book or on the trail with my Aussie, Lulu.

Questions & Answers

It depends on the therapist, but most specialize in some aspect of massage, be it a technique or a condition. Through learning in classes or through our clients we all start to gather tools and tricks. I personally specialize in prenatal & postpartum massage as well as Maya Abdominal Therapy, but I also know a lot about releasing tension around the neck, shoulders & low back. Each client is a learning opportunity.

A gratitude practice either when you wake up or go to sleep can help rewire your brain towards mindfulness, or a journaling practice. When I am feeling stressed, tense or my mind is off doing it's own thing I like to take a 3 slow, deep breaths to recenter, imagining tension melting out of my body on the exhales.

The short answer is yes! It isn't a quick fix, but massage helps the body to drop into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest), as well as release hormones such as oxytocin. There are also specific modalities such as Craniosacral Therapy as well as massage practitioners that specialize in working with trauma, ptsd and emotional release. Massage helps with aches and pain as well as general relaxation, which are both good for mental health.
