Yoga therapy integrates the powers of breath, physical alignment and yoga philosophy to provide a holistic approach to healing. The goal is to teach students how to care for and heal their unique condition with different modalities. The hallmark of Iyengar yoga is physical alignment, yoga therapeutics using modified poses with the use of props, mental precision and a soft breath to create a relaxation response. Iyengar yoga was created to bring yoga to everyone.
I have been practicing dental hygiene (RDH) since 1978. A dental office can be a fearful place for many patients and skillful communication and alleviation of fear is a major part of working with the patients. I have assessed and treated many different types of patients over the years, including patients with various physical and mental disabilities, cancer patients and patients who have been resistant to dental treatment based on their past experiences. Yoga therapy is no different.
I started teaching yoga and providing private yoga therapy sessions in 2006 at Lakeport Yoga. I currently own and operate Lake Yoga LLC since September 2011. I maintain a daily practice at home. On the average, I teach 5 yoga classes a week. I also have eight to ten private yoga therapy sessions weekly with students recovering from a variety of mental, physical and emotional issues.
