I had the pleasure of working with Cecile Raynor for more than one year at her studio in Brookline. About me

My name is Cécile Raynor. For about 30 years I have been teaching the Alexander Technique which is the best-kept secret of famous performers and Olympic artists. They swear by it because it allows them to perform at their highest potential with optimal safety. Now, it is well known by people of all professions who find it the missing link in their optimum health.

Over the years, I have developed my own expression of the Alexander Technique the Body Intelligence Activation Process. In a nutshell, I teach people how to get out of their own way so as to empower and activate their whole-body intelligence which fixes their challenges automatically.

I also became a Thai Yoga therapist and a Reiki practitioner to offer a full spectrum of value to everyone.

My practice consists of private and group sessions, both in-person and online format. Onother specialty is teaching yogis and yoga teachers how to practice in an integrated way so they avoid common strain and injuries. Then, I was led to publish The Wise Way to Yoga in 2018.

So, out of my life experience personally and professionally, I have been inspiring and guiding people away from unnecessary tension and pain so they can dance the joy of wholeness.

All I love to do, from being in nature, meditating, dancing, drawing, painting, listening to music, gardening, hiking kayaking, traveling, and more, has informed my way of being and working. which is why I love my work and love the people I work with.

My Philosophy of Care

While studying for my doctorate, I had a profound insight into my own level of body awareness. I realized I was very much in my head and quite disembodied even though I was exercising 3 hours a day. I wanted my mind and body to work together as they are designed to do for optimal health. So, I chose to leave academia to become an Alexander Technique teacher.



Little did I know I would someday become an expert on integrated movement and even teach yoga teachers to be more embodied! In fact, I am so passionate about fluid movements that I also became an artist capturing fluid movement in dancers and musicians.

Moreover, since I was a young adult, because of body image limitations, I was very motivated to study and practice whole-food nutrition.

 As a result, integrated movements combined with decades of integrated nutrition and meditation have had a transformative impact on my life as a whole and has kept me strong, healthy, and centered.





I believe I was meant to be a wellness professional and have already helped countless others feel better in their body and mind.

What You Can Expect On Your First Visit

Most clients have at least one WOW experience or two in their first session. This is due to a level of ease and pain-free movement they never experienced before.

At the end of the session, they often feel their posture has clearly improved. Walking around, they enjoy feeling taller and more relaxed without effort.

I have had chronic muscle stiffness and joint pain and after many educational sessions with Cecile I have learned how to heal and prevent these conditions and to have a more integrated way of moving which gets to the root of what is causing my discomfort . I studied Alexander Technique with another teacher for 5+ years before I came to Cecile. I had reached a point where I wasn't growing much any more. Cecile opened many new doors for me, and I continue to get deep benefits 5 years into my study with her, thanks to her profoundly integrated and intuitive way of teaching movement, which incorporates not only traditional Alexander Technique, but also Thai Yoga massage and a deeply meaningful, practical and non-flakey spiritual outlook. This warm and centered spiritual outlook informs everything she does, especially her teaching. You know you can trust her because she practices what she teaches, and because of her utter sincerity at all times. Cecile has really changed my life and I'm very grateful to her!
Cecile is amazing at what she does. She's helped me correct deep-seated postural issues which also increased my body awareness and mindfulness ability. I've rediscovered how fun it is to move whether in my daily life as well as while practicing yoga or any fitness-related activities. And, by applying her teachings, I've also been able to relieve some occasional pain after a day or 2. While her hands-on work is like magic, Cecile also has the ability to teach remotely with great efficacy. I highly recommend her!
I don't know if I can put into words how important Cecile has been to the quality of life I've enjoyed over the years she has been my teacher. I was in misery from back and shoulder pain after years of working as an artist/craftsman. I couldn't work for more than a few hours a day and couldn't sleep at night from the pain. I was a skeptic, but I was desperate. Cecile helped me through that crisis and opened me up to much more. I continue to study with her to this day, finding I have more flexibility, better balance, and more energy than I ever had in my youth. I've even gotten a little taller. As my wife says, I'm doing great for man of my age- almost 70! None of this would have happened without Cecile.
I didn't realize how out of balanced my posture had become from years spent in front of computer screens. After the first few sessions with Cecile I began to develop an awareness that has transformed my work and home life into a more comfortable and less physically stressful existence.
I first met Cecile when I was taking her Alexander techniques class at Brookline adult education center. I’ve always been interested in subjects on body posture, movement, and body/mind connection. Yet despite of years of taichi practice, I still feels that I didn’t get the essence of body mechanics because I was merely imitating movement/posture from teachers. In Cecile’s class, she talked about something like innate “whole body intelligence” and ways to access it. That really fascinated me so I started to take private lessons from her. I’m still pretty new with her, but after just one or two lessons, I already feel a whole new exciting world opened up waiting for exploration. I highly recommend Cecile’s class.
