Licensed Midwife, Certified Professional Midwife
The midwives of Full Moon Midwifery believe pregnancy and birth to be sacred.
I was drawn to Midwifery after my first birth in 1991. I struggled to move through the intensity of my 29 hour labor and am certain I would have had many interventions if I had been in a hospital. My homebirth midwives were patient and professional but most of all they trusted me and offered me individualized, compassionate care which included tools to help my body open and my head to get out of the way so this baby could come into the world. A spark was lit inside of me and a passion for midwifery grew. I began my work to become a midwife 2 years after her birth by apprenticing with my midwife in Michigan and then continued by attending Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland OR in 1995. I have been attending primary births since 1999. I have had 3 more children born at home (and with a little more ease). The final birth was in 2000 and was my first waterbirth. I have been fortunate to be married to an organic farmer and to live and work on our land outside of Canby, OR. We value sustainable farming and being open-hearted and trusting stewards of the land and of the natural way we come into and leave the world. Fullmoon Midwifery is an extension of my values, my passion, my calling to serve birthing families. This work is so much more than physical care--it is receiving women and babies with respect and compassion so this huge and sacred transition can be powerful and positive. Caring for pregnant people allows me to touch into meaningful and miraculous experiences as a witness, a facilitator, a midwife, a person on a spiritual journey... I'm grateful to be called to this work.
