"His interaction with each homeless person was kind, compassionate, soft, and gentle. Even though it was volunteer work, he explained to each person how to care for themselves. In just a short amount of time, Mr. Chernati was able tot relieve their aches and pain, no wonder the homeless people commented his massage was not just relaxing but therapeutic..."
"He has an insatiable passion for learning and practicing massage, as well as teaching what he has learned to others. The student-athletes and staff he worked with walked away not only feeling relaxed, but also more knowledgeable about their bodies and how to better manage their ailments."
"I've witnessed first hand his dedication, passion, and ethics in every endeavor he engages in. I met him initially through Kripalu Center For Yoga and Health where he was in the midst of his yoga teacher training. I've since had a few opportunities to experience his natural propensity for bodywork even prior to his current formalized education and was left speechless. I've had opportunity to experience his work while being formally trained, and it was amazing! He even has a firm grasp of many of the technical aspects of this profession. I can only imagine with additional training, what David would accomplish as an excellent massage and bodywork practitioner and therapist."

Learn More About David A. Chernati, L.M.T.

About me

David has been involved with athletics for most of his life. His passion for movement brought him to East Stroudsburg University to study kinesiology and earth science. Since 2012, he has been leading team-based programing on ropes courses, backpacking trips, and introductory rock-climbing courses.

Further pursuing kinesiology, he studied at the National Holistic Institute where he trained therapists to take the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam and tutored students in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and various massage modalities.

After graduation, David continued his studies in Chiang Mai, Thailand with the International Training Massage School to become a Nuad Thai Massage Instructor. Upon completion of the course, he taught international students Nuad Thai Massage Level I and Level II for one month.

In 2019, David moved to Tucson and created Chernati Yoga Massage LLC to formalize his education and teach Assisted Stretching, Partner Yoga, Nuad Thai Massage, and practice Bodywork.

My Inspiration

Come prepared to be moved and stretched. Sessions are fully clothed, practiced on a mat, and incorporate breathing, yoga-like positions, and acupressure.

Questions & Answers

David A. Chernati, L.M.T. Answers
I believe the short answer is a loose yes. There are many specialties within the world of massage therapy such as Neuromuscular massage, Lymphatic massage, Craniosacral, Chi Nei Tsang, Somatic Therapy, Nuad Thai, etc. The longer answer is it depends. Not all people with the same credentials will be able to help in the same way. Just because someone has more years of experience does not necessarily mean they are more advanced in their practice. The easiest way for one to find someone that specializes in any condition is to ask the therapist directly. If they do not work with a specific condition, they may be able to point you to another who does.

I prefer to trade massage massages with other professionals at least one or two times per month. My preferred modalities include Nuad Thai, Neuromuscular, or Myofascial Massage although I like to try new modalities from time to time. As for other types of self-care, I try to move my body as much as possible. Currently, I practice Acroyoga at least 3-4 times per week for a minimum of two hours per session with other forms of strength training. Weather permitting, I rock climb outdoors. As much a possible I try to cook for myself using fresh ingredients and a variety of colors. A good philosophy that I have adopted from Ayurveda is "Moderation and Balance." If I feel that I have been in excess in an area of life, I will try to find balance. If I feel that I am lacking in an area, I try to find balance.

I am a Nuad Thai (Northern Style) Massage instructor and practitioner living in Tucson, AZ. Nuad Thai is heavily influenced by both Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine due to Thailands proximity to India and China. The Northern (Chiang Mai) Style is slower with a deep focus on stretching. Yoga from India has a greater influence. The Southern (Bangkok) Style utilizes more pressure and pressure points with less focus on stretching. TCM and acupressure from China has a. greater influence. Traditionally, Nuad Thai is a fully-clothed massage, practiced on a mat, with focus on yoga-like stretches and acupressure. One unique quality of this Healing Art is the rhythm (1 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 1 / soft - medium - soft / in - out - in). The rhythm refers to both placement of a limb and the pressure applied. Before and after using direct pressure, the area is relaxed with soft pressure or broad strokes. The same principle is applied when working "SenEnergy Lines." Similar to TCM, Nuad Thai is considered "energy work" and thus ailments are caused by blockages along energy pathways called "Sen Energy Lines," similar to Chinese Meridians. "In the last 15 years I've been coming here, one of the best.David addressed my areas that were hurting, stayed on them for as long as it took it felt like. I should have asked for a longer massage. But mostly, he seemed to know where to go on my body and how much pressure was needed to get the release. Well Done!"
