Corissa does something special that works muscles and unwinds mental and **emotional** tension. More than than any of those things, I learned a great deal about myself and living in the world as it exists. For those who may feel shy or nervous about being touched: I am overweight, covered in scars (visible and invisible), a survivor various types of abuse that made me hesitant about being touched. Corissa’s presence and approach to the session quickly relaxed those habitual anxious reactions and we were able to get to the good healing part much sooner than I’d expected. About the reviewer: Entirely human/ age 59, two spirit/ transgender (continuing process of physical transition “ftm”) /married 32+ years/ mom & dad, birthmother of 2, along with other characteristics. -- So, yeah, old guys with a weird history are comfortable with Corissa.

About me

I am a licensed massage therapist specializing in Thai massage and SomatoEmotional Release/Craniosacral Therapy. While getting a bachelor’s degree in World Religion at St. Edward’s University, I imagined creating a neutral space that used the tools of religion (such as incense and candles) to impel people to be still and know themselves. After graduation, I began to attend Thai Massage Jams, merely as a hobby. After a year of attending these Jams, I realized I liked Thai massage, I was good at it, and I could be making money with it!

In 2015 I went back to school to get my massage license. I studied massage under Alex Mathews, LMTI at Austin Community College and Thai Massage under Robert Gardner, LMTI. I also studied SomatoEmotional Release/Craniosacral at the Upledger institute. While I was in school, I joyfully realized that my previous goal of creating a sacred space could be reached through massage therapy, and as a CranioSacral/SomatoEmotional release Therapist I can help induce a state of stillness and meditation in my client. Additionally, before I became a massage therapist, I practiced many movement arts including: Acrobatic Yoga, Ballroom dancing, and Martial Arts all of which gave me a deeper understanding of the human body. I was introduced to massage therapy through the movement and stretching of Thai massage and am now devoted to using all of my experiences to help others come to a place of emotional and physical well being.

Most likely your low back pain is developed from sitting in your chair for long periods of time which is shortening your psoas muscle. Then when you stand up your psoas got used to the shorter position and won't lengthen out thus pulling on your low back and creating pain. This link will show you how to sit with proper poster to relieve low back pain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDxYqgbnNok&t=6s Additionally I would add a psoas stretch into your daily routine. My favorite psoas stretch is a modified pigeon pose. To modify pigeon pose instead of putting your right shoulder over your right knee you should put your left shoulder over your right knee. If you feel a pinch sensation where your leg meets your torso then you know you are preforming the stretch correctly.
