In a world where we are immersed in our cell phones and technology, Yoga Dan truly is a breath of fresh air. Every time I step into a session with him, I know that I am going to be walking out of there happier and more relaxed than I came in . Especially if you are living in a big city where there tends to be a hidden cloud of anxiety and chaos lurking, just listening to him speak provides you the ability to "disconnect to reconnect". Dan is extremely knowledgeable about both the mind and human body. Would recommend his teaching to anyone of any skill level.
I first met YogaDan when he was teaching community yoga classes outdoors. His instruction emphasizes proper alignment and tensing or relaxing specific areas to support the pose and avoid injury. The vibrating foam roller yoga was a game changer, inspiring me to buy my own! I've lent it to friends who have knots they need to target to ease pain.
I hired YD and his company, Sproga, to address the challenges we face in an office environment. I'm the CEO of a healthcare company in NYC and all of us stare at our tiny laptop screens hunched over each day. Having recovered myself from significant back injury when I was younger, I am acutely aware of the importance of incorporating posture and movement into our lives. YD gave us the full package, and it was incredible. First, a corporate-wide evaluation of our policies and procedures and practices around ergonomics. Then an evaluation of EACH PERSON'S workspace, identifying areas where we could really improve their work environment and their relationship to it. For some of us that meant some basic training on how to sit and stand (and breathe!). For all of us it meant bespoke workspace enhancements to bring our monitors up to our eye level; to keep our arms where they should be with keyboards and mice; to develop the correct angles of the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle joints. YD came back for a multitude of sessions for us, training us on these approaches while building out a really positive (and super trendy) ergonomic workstation for each of us. We created standing workstations that people could spend some time with; massage stations; balancing set-ups for people to work while engaging some active balancing, etc. Then COVID happened and we all were sent home. We continue to invest in ergonomic set-ups at home to perpetuate what we learned from YD, and he makes himself available as a consultant to anyone in the company who needs him. Needless to say, the results of this kind of an intervention are palpable. I constantly hear employees talking about how they hurt less and how they became more mindful of posture in every area of their lives. People with good posture have more self-confidence and begin to value caring for themselves more frequently. Productivity goes up, happiness goes up, kindness goes up, and injury goes down. I've never encountered a full-service solution for corporate ergonomics that is so high-touch, high-care, and high-impact. You really must know YD in order to understand.

Learn More About Dan Gottlieb

About me

YD is a NYC-based Detroit transplant specializing in Sports / Performance / Recovery Programing. With 20+ years’ experience, YD started his athletic career playing college basketball. Due to a severe back injury his basketball career was cut short. Frustrated with the lack of progress using conventional methods. YD discovered yoga and healed himself back to recovery at full strength. It is through this experience that he honed his knowledge of bio-mechanics. Today he’s developed a practice that brings together his two passions-sports and yoga-to create a full mind/body fitness for your spirit program. Focusing on preventative and rehabilitation. Throughout his career, Yoga Dan has trained every fitness level from weekend warriors to professional athletes and most recently launched his successful Sproga®️ corporate program. Prior to his move, YD was the Yoga Trainer for the NBA’s Detroit Pistons. When he’s not on the mat you can spot him at the dog park with his two rescue dogs Samson and Delilah and wife Bridget or spinning records and making healthy meals as a certified Raw food nutritionist. Standing 6'8”, he has a penchant for sartorial dressing and remains an avid fan of the game.
