Dan has given me insight not only to my gambling addiction, but also how this addiction can "interact " with other self destructive behaviors that negatively impact my daily living. Mike L. (the guy who saw both of Bob Forsch's no-hitters.
I have known Dan for a few years. He has helped me understand my addiction. I appreciate his gentle but effective understanding and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing help.
I have known Dan in the mindfulness practice community for ~5 or 6 years. I have practiced with him at week-long retreats at Magnolia Grove Meditation Practice Center in Mississippi. He has always been thoughtful, kind, open, helpful and a good listener. He also was one of the founders of the Midwest Moon Sangha in St. Louis, and is a co-leader. I have attended weekend retreats which he has organized. Things always come up, and he handles these things with ease. In these retreats and in other meetings, he has led sitting and walking meditation, and I have greatly enjoyed and benefitted from his leadership

Learn More About Daniel L. Smith, LCSW BACC CCGC CISD SAP

About me

As a contemplative psychotherapist, and a teacher of therapeutic writing, meditation, and shamanic drumming as modalities in cross cultural healing, Dan provides hope for recovering individuals and families affected by addictions and mental health issues. He especially likes to share evidenced based practices with other clinicians. His years in management allow him to assist both individuals and businesses to achieve and exceed goals. While he teaches clients to excel in self-care, well being, happiness, and productivity, he is widely regarded as a leader in innovative meditation, wholistic counseling, and shamanic work for professionals. Focusing on healthy recovery, relapse prevention and deeply spiritual transformation for individual and corporate clients, Dan's goal is to model what he teaches. His books are available from Amazon and local booksellers: https://www.amazon.com/Daniel-L.-Smith/e/B0886KJ4Q5?ref_=dbs_p_pbk_r00_abau_000000

As a well known and entertaining speaker and trainer, his lectures and "power points" can be found throughout the internet. He has helped clients virtually and delivered workshops online since 2011. His writings on grief, resilience, professional self care, poetry as cosmology, therapy, and wellness itself are well regarded.

Dan can be reached at Betnomore@gmail.com for your counseling, speaking, and consulting needs. Or text (preferred) or call 314 265 2440.

My Philosophy of Care

From a dissertation on creativity/madness at Miami University, and a post-doc at Michigan in teaching technical/professional writing/illustration, specifically in legal and medical writing . . . technical writing brought me awards. And after being successful in a totally unrelated business, I was recruited into hospital administration, medical program development, startups and rebranding of programs and facilities. My work has always been holistic; an honor to help recovering persons excel.

What You Can Expect On Your First Visit

"You took time to listen deeply to my concerns!"

"Dan helped me see a way out of darkness; just not participating in my addiction was NOT enough."

"Gentle guidance-- everyone should have this kind of mentoring."
"Dan's online sessions are 'one of a kind,' an 'island of calm,' and 'immediately practical.'"

(fee for service on a sliding scale; never any charge for the first phone consultation, nor for ceremony except soul retrieval work; no cost services for Missouri gamblers and families)

My Inspiration

Whether online or in person, transformation through counseling and mentoring is a co-operative effort between an experienced therapist and a willing client ... and requires work ! But the process is SO rewarding! Missouri residents may receive services absolutely FREE in some cases. My writing led to two text books, five books of poetry, even a cookbook as manuals in grief resolution, resiliency, loss mitigation, worth and worthiness, self-determination, reliance on spirituality.
