I'm a Certified Holistic Health Coach with a functional approach to helping people heal from digestive issues and autoimmune disease.
Entering the world of Holistic Health and Nutrition was a life changer for me.
I became very ill with Ulcerative Colitis after the birth of my fourth child and was given a terrible prognosis for the rest of my life. To combat the symptoms of the disease, my gastroenterologist put me on very strong medications. (The first of which inflated me to the size of a beach ball, and its replacement interfered with my white blood cell count.) Unsatisfied with my condition and medical care, I started doing my own research, trying to find a better solution.
Through working with a Holistic MD and a very open minded nutritionist, I slowly changed the way I ate and eventually was able to get off of the prescribed drugs completely. I am now gluten-free, eat a primarily plant based diet, and have returned to a completely normal life. Realizing the incredibly powerful effect food had on my body (both positive and negative), I went back to school and set out on a new career. I specialize in dealing with digestive issues, gluten-free diets, and weight loss.
I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I studied a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. With my knowledge, we co-create completely personalized actions based on your goals to move you toward your ideal vision of health within your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and resources. I also received a Certificate in Nutritional Counseling from Teachers College at Columbia University, and am a graduate of Trinity College, Hartford, CT. I continue to study and am currently in a certification program at The School of Applied Functional Medicine.
My road back to health after a horrible diagnosis of autoimmune disease inspired me to go back to school and study nutrition so that I can help others regain their state of wellness.
I explain to people who have never worked with a health and wellness coach like me is that I take a total body approach. Everything in the body is interconnected, and addressing nutrition is only part of the process. We will also focus on stress, rest, hydration, and other areas of your life in formulating a plan for your unique body.
