I’ve been a smoker for about 25 years. My partner about 28. We didn’t go into our agreement with Deanna thinking there was any end in sight to our smoking habit. But we wanted to try. I only knew a little about EFT and had done very minimal tapping before working with Deanna. My partner had no experience. Deanna’s sessions were done via video meetings once a week. She would discuss with us what our obstacles and blocks were for that week, then we would go through a series of tappings on those specific subjects. Each week we had an assignment, whether it was to write down what fears or blocks came up while we were tapping, or simply to pay attention to our bodies or moods. We both downloaded a free app called Tapping, where we could pick a tapping session based on our mood or concern. Deanna was both informative as well as proactive when it came to our once a week sessions. She anticipated our struggles and stressed a “no guilt” aspect to her sessions. The ease of which she conducts her sessions, as well as her attitude makes each session something we both looked forward to. We knew we were in the best of hands, experienced hands, as well as someone who cares about our health and overall success. It’s now going on week three, and my partner and I are still not smoking and feeling great. We have made tapping a routine part of our day, and although we still have cravings, we know we can go to tapping to help us. Deanna has done what no one else has been able to, no product or nicotine replacement therapy has done. Thank you so much for your knowledge, your empathy, and your steadfastness in working with us, Deanna

About me

I write for myself and other practitioners to help connect us with clients who are our best fit.

I am an embodied coach for creatives and other practitioners, using EFT/Tapping, Qi Gong movement, and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy to work through blocks and ineffective patterns.

I promote wellness through local and virtual T'ai Chi Chih classes.

I serve local clients, offering Chi Nei Tsang and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.

My Story:

My background in bodywork reaches back to the late '90s, when I specialized in Asian Bodywork Therapies (Shiatsu and Chi Nei Tsang) and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, finding a deep connection between these Eastern and Western modalities.

Of the forms of Chi Gong and T'ai Chi I studied during this time while learning and teaching Shiatsu, I chose to later become accredited to teach T'ai Chi Chih. Its focus on 19 movements and one pose, orientation toward health and spiritual benefits, and powerful and accessible seated option of the form made it the choice for my practice. I've found that my background in teaching bodywork helps me to be particularly observant and effective in teaching the practice virtually to individuals and classes. My time spent teaching in libraries and universities helps me to help you learn online in comfort.

My interest in EFT Tapping was a natural outgrowth of my early years spent in counseling and my training and practice in Asian Bodywork Therapies. It has helped me to overcome mental/emotional blocks and to change thoughts and patterns that weren't serving me, particularly in the area of trauma. It has become an integral part of my coaching/mentoring practice. I especially enjoy helping creatives uncover what may be holding them back and facing the trauma that may come up in the creative process, informed by my own experiences in an MFA program.

At present, I feel fulfilled drawing on my varied background to research and write articles, posts, and web content for my own practice and other practitioners, helping them to connect with people who most need what we do. I love teaching T'ai Chi Chih, in person and virtually, helping others to become active participants in their wellness. Coaching creatives and other practitioners in person and virtually around business and personal development feels like my deep service work these days. And I continue to joyfully serve select clients for Chi Nei Tsang and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.

Hi, Amanda. Susan's answer covers the benefits beautifully and thoroughly. Karise brings up an important point, in my opinion--underlying causes. I see Craniosacral therapists using more verbal skills during sessions to help bring these into the session--somatic experiencing, for example. Craniosacral and EFT Tapping are my top two recommendations for immediate relief from anxiety, as well as addressing underlying patterns to make more permanent changes. Best to you, Deanna

I'll just add a little note to what the others have said...the effects extend with the nerves as they branch from the spinal cord, leaving the dural sac (which contains the cerebral spinal fluid) via the dural sleeves (which are connective tissue). This helps to explain the effects this therapy has on the tissues outside of the dura, away from the spine, as signals are sent through palpation and release of adhesions or twists in the dura or the sleeves themselves. As nerves are freed to circulation signals from the spinal fluid, the tissues they reach also benefit from increased circulation.

I'll add craniosacral therapy to the list of options for effective relief from TMJ symptoms and misalignment issues. It is a great adjunct to dental work that may be necessary, as well.
