I'm a therapist who works with people to help them find clarity, balance, and ease on mental and emotional levels.
I welcome you to see if I am able to help you with your problems. I want to help you in any way that I can, and if you come to me, I will be completely invested in assisting you.
With growth and development, there is a journey of self-exploration. I always emphasize getting to the bottom of problems using psychotherapy (“talk therapy”) over medication.
You are coming to me for comprehensive aid for your whole person, not merely to have your medications managed. There are other psychiatrists who practice a more straightforward and conventional kind of psychiatry, and you are highly encouraged to seek treatment with them if that is what you believe you want and/or need.
We will work together using a cooperative, team approach, where all of your treatment is personalized to find that which would be most effective for you as an individual, because one size never fits all.
I am open to collaborating with your seeking alternative, integrative therapies which provide complementary, holistic healing, such as mindfulness, meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, acupuncture, massage, herbal medicine and nutritional counseling.
I do all I can to support you in finding the best in yourself to improve the quality and balance of your life. I am eager to work with each individual person to find alternative solutions, using the least amount of medication, if any. In a collaborative process, I will explore and apply the most beneficial and humanistic treatments available, including clinical hypnosis. If there are treatment modalities which are not areas of my expertise, I will do what I can to facilitate that you work with those who have such emphases.
Diane J. Weiss M.D., M.P.H. has been Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 1990, and in 2015 became a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Having been in private practice at the same office in Beverly Hills since she finished her Psychiatric Residency at the UCLA San Fernando Valley Training Program in 1988, Dr. Weiss has become a staple in the community.
Dr. Diane came to be a psychiatrist from a long history of interest in the humanities. She wanted to have long-term relationships with people using the techniques she learned in the biopsychosocial model. Dr. Diane has always been highly influenced by thinking of treatment of individuals in terms of the art as well as in terms of the science of medicine. Having put an emphasis on wanting to get to the bottom of each person's issues, Dr. Diane greatly enjoys helping people with their journey as part of a recovery exploration.
Dr. Diane attended undergraduate school at UCLA, then later obtained a Master's Degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) with the Population, Family and International Health major at the UCLA School of Public Health. Dr. Weiss received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Diane constantly explores and learns additional ways to help one help themselves. For the last four years she has been implementing hypnosis/hypnotherapy, including clean language, in her practice. She is soon to be officially certified as a hypnotherapist by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and will be progressing in her residency training with the American Academy of Medical Hypnosis to become a hypnoanalyst.
Consultation to help understand the best way to make changes for a better life. Sometimes your own personal transformation and acceptance of difficult realities does not have a complete and immediate resolution.
The psychotherapy is humanistically and psychodynamically oriented. I use elements of cognitive behavioral concepts, drawing eclectically to integrate that which can be helpful, including supportive psychotherapy, clean language, hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis.
I treat people who generally have more than one relevant concern. Included treatments would be for the spectrum of anxiety, depression, trauma including posttraumatic distress disorder, adjustment disorders, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, relationship issues, bereavement/grief counseling, insomnia, worry, as well as attention deficit disorders. I can assist you with other issues, concerns, and challenges you may have, as well. I will accompany each individual on a journey to help discover one's internal resources in order to maximize their life experiences. I am here to be an ally and a guide.
