Learn More About Dr. Eugene Sambataro,DDS

About me

Eugene A. Sambataro, DDS, FAGD, has been a leader in the field of dentistry for more than thirty-five years. Dr. Sambataro’s holistic approach to dentistry is rooted in an understanding of the interconnectedness of oral and whole-body health. As director and clinician of his practice, the Julian Center for Comprehensive Dentistry, Dr. Sambataro focuses on healing the mind, body, and spirit, with an emphasis on treating sleep-disordered breathing issues, like sleep apnea.

Dr. Sambataro’s philosophical shift to biologically centered holistic dentistry comes from a place of sincere belief in the need for change. Too many of his patients were misinformed about their oral health, and too many were prevented from improving their health because of traditional dental and health care practices. Adding to his approach is a discovery of the dangers of conventional dental remedies like mercury amalgam fillings, fluoride, and root canals. Dr. Sambataro believes we are at the beginning of a fundamental shift in the practice of dentistry—a transformation that will shift the focus of dental practices away from the emergency treatment of symptoms toward compassionate, comprehensive, and preventative biological care that truly embraces the philosophy of Hippocrates: “First do no harm.”

Dr. Sambataro attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and began his career practicing traditional dentistry, pioneering treatments for TMD (jaw joint disorders) and sleep apnea. He is now a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health, the Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Sleep and Breathing Academy, National Sleep Foundation, Maryland Sleep Society, International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine, Holistic Dental Association, and the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, and the International Dental Implant Association. He is also a member and fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.

Questions & Answers
Dr. Eugene Sambataro,DDS Answers
Its not only important to get 71/2 - 8hrs of sleep every night it must be uninterrupted. This usually occurs from sleep disordered breathing. Yuo may want to consider a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea or UARS. If positive this can be addressed w/ a CPAP device or a dental appliance
Dr. Eugene Sambataro,DDS Answers
Yes would definitely eliminate sugar, gluten, diary and soy. In addition get evaluated for heavy metal toxicity. And most important be sure you are getting adequate deep and REM sleep. The brian's lymphatic system(glymphatics) detoxifies the brain while we are sleeping.
Dr. Eugene Sambataro,DDS Answers
Yes, mercury fillings can cause heavy metal toxicity and contribute to many health concerns. Most of my patients have experienced significant improvement in their overall health once they've had them removed. We use a very specific protocol when removing the mercury so as to keep the patient and staff safe.
