If you have been traumatized, I will support you to feel safe and at home in your body and in the world.
I love helping people to heal from trauma and become embodied in their resources, resilience, self-advocacy, and power.
As a trauma survivor, I have spent many years on the healing and personal growth path. At the age of 19, I began psychoanalysis with an outstanding psychoanalyst (Dr. Joyce McDougall) in Paris, France. The support that I received from Joyce McDougall was life-changing, and I realized that I wanted to become trained as a therapist, so I could facilitate others on their journey to self-love and empowerment.
I lived in Paris for 8 years, and I became bi-lingual in French. I had the time of my life! While I was living in Paris, I studied Psychology at the American College in Paris and at the Sorbonne.
Although I loved Paris, I realized that I wanted to complete my Psychology studies in the USA. I moved to Boston and finished my B.A. in Psychology at Boston University. I then went to Lesley College and acquired an M.A. in Counseling Psychology. I worked enjoying with many clients at counseling centers in the Boston area. My favorite place to work in Boston was Project Place, where I got to work with people from many different backgrounds.
After 9 years in Boston, my first husband and I moved to California. Shortly after arriving in California, I was told that I needed to go back to graduate school to complete another Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology, since the Board of Behavioral Sciences did not accept my graduate work from Massachusetts. I completed my studies at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) in Palo Alto, receiving my second M.A. in Counseling Psychology in 2000. I acquired my Marriage and Family Therapist License in 2007.
While I attended ITP, I studied Hypnotherapy, and I became a Certified Hypnotherapist, with a private practice in Half Moon Bay, California. It was also while I was a student at ITP that I learned about Somatic Experiencing, a powerful somatic tool for healing trauma and PTSD developed by Dr. Peter Levine. I felt called to receive Somatic Experiencing as a client and to become a Practitioner. I became a Certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in 2011.
In 2015, I also became Certified as a Healing Shame Practitioner.
Including my counseling experience in Massachusetts, my private practice as a Hypnotherapist (during my time in graduate school), my internships, and my years of providing therapy, as a Licensed Therapist and as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I have 27 years of experience in the healing arts field.
I have a private practice in Sebastopol, California. Through Somatic Experiencing, I work with individual adults who suffer from many types of trauma, anxiety, and PTSD. I use Hypnotherapy to help clients to learn relaxation and mindfulness. I also work with couples, adolescents, children, Heterosexual and LGBT clients. I love working with other therapists. Another of my specialties is supporting MFT Interns/Associates in preparing for and passing their licensing exams. I enjoy providing therapy to other licensed therapists, co-creating a high level of personal awareness and transformation.
