My mission in this lifetime is to connect people back with our Mother Earth, so we can remember that we are whole, just as we are. So, in my therapy practice, my clients and I work closely with nature, so we can access holistic methods for profound healing. I believe that when we come back into alignment with the Earth, everything else falls into place.
My private practice is called The Makaranda Method. In this holistic method, clients and I address their relationship with their mindset, movement, nutrition, and nature.
I work with adult individuals, couples, and groups.
If you live in Denver, we will meet in my mobile office, Black Beauty, or we will meet virtually.
My favorite kind of work is done with people who want to further their realms of consciousness. I do psychedelic preparation and integration sessions with clients who want to know themselves more deeply from an emotional, spiritual, intellectual and creative lense.
I knew I was going to be a therapist when I was six years old. I went to a therapist at that age and I didn't like the way she talked to me. I remember saying to my mom, "I don't think she is a good therapist. I want to be a good one when I grow up."
So, I am doing that now and I love my work so much! This work hardly feels like a job because I believe I was placed on the planet to do this work. Supporting people so they can see that they are already whole and that they have the tools inside themselves to heal, is the biggest pleasure of my life.
Every session starts with a walking or seated meditation. I believe this is one of the most important parts of the session, where we truly stop and take a moment to land together. This allows for us to take some deep breaths and arrive in the moment, right here, right now.
If you live in Denver, we may meet in my mobile office, Black Beauty! This gives us easy access to nature in our backyard. If you live somewhere else in the world, then we have a video call, so we can at least see each other's body language and facial expressions! This will be a "get to know each other" session, where we start with where we are right now. Then, we take it from there.
First, DO IT!!! And then add it to your daily routine! This is single-handedly the most powerful tool I've ever been introduced to.
When I was a recent graduate with my masters, I had a teacher who asked me to sit daily for one hour of silent meditation. I had practiced yoga for a decade but I had never had a consistent, seated meditation practice. So, I sat every day, for a whole hour. Within a few weeks, I was actually present for the first time in my life. I never realized how much I was always in my head... not paying attention to what was right in front of me.
Humans have known the power of meditation and prayer for thousands of years, and once I created a consistent practice, I had changed my entire way of existing in the world.
I was actually doing things, while I was doing them. When I was driving, I would feel my hands on the steering wheel and look at all the things there was to see. I wasn't in my head thinking about anything at all. I was just driving. It felt revolutionary for me, and I felt consistently calm and present for the first time in my life.
Now, I ask all my clients to sit in meditation for at least 20 minutes a day, and they are changing their lives too!
