I coach my clients through a method called causal coaching - which means that we look at the root beliefs that are getting in our way of being successful. Over the past 15 years, I’ve helped 100’s of clients identify sneaky thought patterns and limiting beliefs that keep them stuck, prevent them from reaching their goals, minimize anxiety, lose weight, and establish healthy habits so that they can be happier & live the life they desire. The Feel Good Sisterhood Group Coaching Program
The Feel Good Sisterhood is a 6 month program where I will walk a small group of women through everything that I teach my private 1:1 clients, but in a group setting. I’ve been a part of many group settings - whether it’s coaching groups, classes, or online communities. There are also times that I’ve sought out private teachers. I think both are great - it just depends on what I’ve needed at a particular time. When my husband and I started Spanish, we wanted the 1:1 (or rather 1:2) attention of a private teacher - we also didn’t have the flexibility of being able to go to a class in the middle of the day. So, we hired a teacher to help us. But I’ve also been part of groups before and have also enjoyed the experience and learned a TON - oftentimes I sometimes learn MORE when someone else is being coached because I can take the concepts in with a relaxed mind. I’m the host of the Done with Dieting Podcast. I help my clients to create habits to lose weight, improve their relationships with themselves and others, and overcome obstacles or barriers that are keeping them stuck from having the life that that they deeply desire.

My Philosophy of Care

In 2001, my mom passed away from breast cancer. I had recently started exercising and had lost some weight, but seeing her battle the disease inspired me to research ‘How NOT to get Breast Cancer’. At the time, I had NO IDEA that being overweight was a huge risk factor in not only contracting cancer, but led to so many other lifestyle related diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and more.

I would love to say that once I had that information that I quickly made the shift, however it took me years longer - trying diet fads, investing in expensive supplements, and diet foods - before I finally got serious and decided to figure it out: How do I lose weight for good without feeling like I have to give up everything that joy in my life?

How do I improve my relationship with food and my body? Because at that point, it felt like a constant battle.

What was crazy was that I knew it all. I was already a certified personal trainer and nutritionist. I had the information. So why wasn’t I doing it?

What resulted, was a deep dive into women’s hormonal health and personal development that made me realize that my weight was merely a result of not only my behaviors, but WHY I was doing them.

I’ve made all the mistakes and failed over and over and over again, and so my goal is to help my clients get results faster because I know what works and what doesn’t, and how to shift when what used to work doesn’t work anymore.

My Inspiration

I specialize in working with women in mid-life because our hormones have such a huge impact on how we gain & lose weight.

Now - I don’t work like typical weight loss coaches in that I have a highly specialized skill set consisting of certifications in nutrition, women’s hormones, personal training, health coaching and life coaching. What this means for you is that not only can I help you with WHAT to do, but I can also help you understand and overcome both the physiological reasons behind things like cravings, overeating, over-desire, insomnia, and hot flashes or night sweats, but also the mental work that keeps us from being consistent in the habits that we know will lead to lasting weight loss.

Because of my training and 15 years of experience, I understand how not only our hormones impact our body’s ability to shed body fat, but also the impact that stress and anxiety has on our weight.

I work WITH you to help you learn how to read your body’s signals so that you aren’t dependent on meal plans & can feel empowered to go out to eat or to a party and not feel like it’s going to totally derail your progress.

Also, although I know about nutrition, you are the expert on your body & many of our bodies fall outside traditional diet advice. I see my relationship with my clients as a partnership - we are co-creators in your health.

So, I will work with you to create the right set of eating, exercise, sleep, and stress management habits that are right for you, your body, and your lifestyle.

I totally get this because there was a time that I felt this way too. So, I’m going to answer your question from my personal experience, and then how I was able to turn it around. For me, I didn’t want to feel negative emotion - which totally makes sense because we don’t want to feel negative feelings. They feel bad. But what ended up happening for me, was that when we take away the negative feelings, thinking that we can ONLY feel positive emotion, what happens is that we become numb - because we can only go as high as we go low. We need contrast in our lives. We’ve been led to believe that we should always be happy. But what if the contrast of emotions - having a life that is full of positive AND negative is the true human experience? So, what I started doing was paying attention to my emotions - how my body was feeling & what it was feeling. The other piece was to start a gratitude practice- because once I was able to appreciate the good things in my life, I was able to find more good things in my life. Good Luck. You can do this.

What causes social anxiety is the way that we think about ourselves in those situations. In a very simplistic overview, our brains offer us thoughts designed to protect us. We get to decide if we want to believe our thoughts, and if they serve us. Your brain is telling you that social situations are scary. That’s totally normal as humans are wired to gain social acceptance, and any misstep would risk being rejected from the pack. By paying better attention to the thoughts that you’re having leading up to and IN social situations that cause anxiety (because I’m sure that not ALL provide anxiety - ones with family, or close friends, for example) you can then choose to decide whether or not those thoughts are helpful, or true. Once identified, you can actively work on changing those thoughts to more helpful beliefs about yourself and those who you’re with so that you eventually diminish the anxiety.

Although there are times when cravings are hormonal in nature, most of the time, cravings for sweets or other foods that we habitually turn to are often a result of our thinking. Therefore, you can get rid of your cravings for sweet through doing something like hypnosis, or you can retrain your brain to interrupt the habit loop for your sweet cravings through other methods which can be just as effective. Regardless of which method you use, it’s super important to maintain your awareness around why you’re reaching for sweets in the first place so that your treatment continues to be effective.
