About me

I love cooking and eating good food, but hated getting fat and sick from it.

Changing to a low-carb gluten-free diet, reducing stress, and getting better sleep has improved my health tremendously. I went from obese to a healthy weight, got my blood sugar under control, improved my cholesterol, and healed asthma and acid reflux. I stopped almost all medications

I certified as a Primal Health Coach so I could help other people improve their own health. Starting with family and friends, I am helping others improve their health for themselves. If you are ready to change your lifestyle and take control of your own health (especially if you enjoy cooking!) contact me to see how we can work together.

IF and only if your test is a couple of months away, then you can make changes today to help you brain be at its best. You need to give your body a couple of months to make the adjustment though. If your diet is relatively high in carbs and processed foods, you can do your brain a favor by reducing the carbs (definitely below 200g a day, but 150g or even 100g is better) and getting rid of processed food. Replace the carbs with high quality fat. Experiment to see if you do better with: No Breakfast Fat for Breakfast Protein for Breakfast Different people react differently, but one of these will give you plenty of energy to get through 5 hours of testing and keep you mentally sharp. Good luck on your exams!

Sometimes a change in diet can be helpful. Asthma is a kind of inflammatory reaction, so things that trigger inflammation in your body can trigger asthma. Some possibilities of things you can do to help your asthma include: Reduce stress Get good sleep Try a food elimination diet such as the Auto-Immune Protocol to see if you have a food trigger Use an air purifier especially in the bedroom if air quality is poor where you live Hope one of the suggestions in this thread helps.

For many people, starchy foods cause acid reflux. I know it seems backwards, but that is the case for me and many other people I know. Carrie's suggestion of a journal or log is an excellent one so you can find out what triggers acid reflux for you. Another approach is to try food elimination. Try avoiding starchy foods, including bread, pasta, cereal, potatoes, and rice. Try it for a week and see how you feel. If that did not work, try eliminating another kind of food, such as the nightshade family (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant) which causes many people digestive problems. My last thought is you really want to find out the cause of your acid reflux. Don't just automatically take antacids UNLESS the appropriate tests have been done to find the cause. Acid reflux can be caused by too much stomach acid, then acid reducing approaches are appropriate. But acid reflux can also be caused by too LITTLE stomach acid. In that case, the cure is to increase your stomach acid (I had to do this, using lemon and lime juice as digestive aids). You can see that you really want to know the cause so you do not take the wrong approach for a cure. It is also possible that your stomach cramps are not acid reflux and the cure is something else altogether. So finding out the source of the problem really is important.
