Dr. Wardwell is probably the eighth or tenth doctor I have seen about rosacea. Dermatologists, GPs, alternative medicine practitioners and acupuncturists alike didn’t give me much hope. It is a condition that is hereditary and that you keep for the rest of your life; it can flare-up anytime, they say. I was told I would be on and off antibiotics for the rest of my life. Others said I just needed to relax, there is no “cure”, that “diet and lifestyle wouldn’t affect it”. It is a condition that is not well understood. Some internet research did provide a little more hope, and I did manage to keep it more or less under control for a few years without any medications. But it returned again earlier this year, and much worse than before. I felt I was doing everything by the book, I did not understand. It even spread to my eyelid. I decided to try Dr. Wardwell.

About me

The San Francisco Institute for Integrative and Regenerative Medicine is dedicated to the clinical practice and research of achieving optimal health and wellness through the use state of the art techniques in regenerative medicine, such as musculoskeletal ultrasound guided growth factor and stem cell treatments, and ancient principles of holistic systems of healing paired with 21st century functional medicine testing.

Dr. Wardwell's unique background as an Osteopath trained in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as Functional Medicine, allows him to treat the person as a whole.

The advent of musculoskeletal ultrasound has made the field of regenerative medicine much more effective because it increases the accuracy of the diagnosis and placement of the growth factors and stem cells. Dr. Wardwell is a RMSK certified musculoskeletal ultrasonographer through the ARDMS.

The field of regenerative medicine has grown to include Neural-Prolotherapy, Prolotherapy, Platelet Rich Plasma, Amniotic Membrane, Bone Marrow Derived Stem Cells, Adipose Derived Stem Cells, and Ozonetherapy.
SFIIRM will be a part of a multi-center clinical trial studying the use of Adipose derived stem cells for the treatment of musculoskeletal, aesthetic and systemic degenerative conditions.

As an Osteopath, Dr. Wardwell is able to realign bones, soften muscles, calm nerves and diagnosis and remove strain patterns in the body through palpation. This allows Dr. Wardwell to pick up on the underlying biomechanical causes of cause of pain.

Functional Medicine involves looking deeper at diet, the microbiome of the digestive tract, nutritional status, hormone optimization, detoxification, mental health and wellness. These can all be common causes of aging and when treated in conjunction with regenerative medicine techniques we can reverse the damage that has been done as well treat the underlying cause.
