Offering Parent Support & Youth Classes (Neuroscience | Attachment Theory | Polyvagal Theory | Somatic Mind-Body Practices)
Since I was young, I've been interested in how people get wired to do the things they do, and what guides them towards well-being.
That curiosity (and many chance happenings) led me to a graduate degree in counseling, completed training in youth and adult yoga certification programs, and I am a Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath Certified Practitioner.
I have worked with parents and facilitated yoga and mindfulness for kids in schools (public and private) and in my local community since 2007.
A social-emotional educator at heart, I offer a unique blend of neuroscience, attachment theory, and somatic practices for trauma resolution and resiliency to educators and organizations that serve children. I also contract with non-profit and private organizations to provide behavior consultation, coaching, and training.
In 2014, I authored my first book for kids, Peanut and the BIG Feelings. Jamie's Gift: A Young Teen's Guide to Fears, Worries, and Other Life Challenges (Like Being Irritated By Other People) soon followed; a collaborative project with a local teen. In 2019, I developed a resiliency curriculum for adolescents called TIME:IN, and penned dozens of articles in a column inspired by my work - Wise Parent - in a local family magazine.
My latest creative endeavor is WiseMind Ed - A membership-based training + support site for parents and professionals who work with kids.
Parents who work with us can expect:
- A confidential, non-judgmental, understanding approach.
- Guidance specific to the unique needs of your family through deep listening and intentional exploration of the challenges you face.
- Information from emerging research in neurobiology, mindfulness and mind-body theories of trauma resolution and resilience, and direct experience working with children.
- Targeted interventions you can use with your child, and support while you implement them.
