About me

Jennifer Gebhard likes to think of her life as a nexus point of conventional and holistic healing. Jennifer has been in the medical profession for over thirty-eight years, ten of which she spent working in a hospital on the medical/surgical unit. Since 1987, she has been an Adult Nurse Practitioner, working predominantly with the Veteran population in primary care medicine.

For much longer than these thirty-eight years in medicine, Jennifer has been interested in holistic practices of healing. She is a Reiki Master with twenty years of experience, and a massage therapist with over twenty-five years of experience. She has training in both Swedish massage as well as AMMA, an Oriental style of massage therapy. This combination of allopathic healing and oriental theory has helped her blend and improve her ability to make better treatment choices for her patients.

Jennifer has been studying and practicing herbalism for equally as long, and is a registered Herbalist with the American Herbalist Guild. Her kitchen is always filled with drying herbs, bottles and vials with homemade tinctures and oils filling her shelves and cabinets. She uses essential oils for massage, personal care, and home health purposes. She has been known to make her own cordials and liqueurs both for presents and for medicinal benefit.

Today, Jennifer is happy to see the gap between Holistic arts and conventional medicine continue to shrink. The mind-body connection is where the healing arts began. Now quantum physics may provide possible theories for how energy medicine works. The healing arts have never been so varied and vibrant, with integrative medicine, holistic medicine, herbalism, energy work and more.

Nexus Point is a place where concepts, ideas, and plans meet head on. It is Jennifer’s hope to bring the nexus point of physical and spiritual healing to you, as her life experiences have done for her.

When my husband broke his pelvis in two places, he was recommended Bone-up supplement by Jarrow. His doc was impressed how quickly he healed.

Good question. Some people who are low thyroid take synthroid/levothyroxin for their thyroid replacement. However about 20% of the poplulation do not convert the nonactive form of T4 to the active form that your body actually uses, T3. Armour thyroid is a brand that is comprised of both T4 and T3. I highly recommend Dr Aviva Romms book, The Adrenal Thyroid Revolution where she goes into the care of our thyroid and our tired adrenals. She started out as an herbalist, then graduated as a Yale trained MD. She specializes in womens health and primarily uses nutrition and herbs to treat her clients. She has excellent recommendations on managing the whole adrenal-thyroid-pituitary axis.

I agree with all the answers thus far. I take a simple route first with my patients, asking them to stop all dairy products and go gluten free. People can be allergic to the casien protein in milk and or be lactose intolerant, when they don't have the enzymes to break down the milk sugar( lactose). There can be a connection for those who are both lactose sensitive and gluten sensitive. If you dont want to research all the gluten in foods, I have found the Paleo diet is fairly easy to follow and takes out many of the foods that can cause gastric distress, including beans. Adding a good quality probiotic that has at least nine probiotics combined with a prebiotic like FOS (fructooligosaccharides) is very helpful. Have you ever had IGg food allergy testing?
