Jonny has many talents, skills, certifications and he is currently towards the end of his track in becoming a Dr. in Chinese medicine/acupuncture. He has treated me for migraine, occipital neuralgia, disautonomia, spinal stenosis/scoliosis/arthritis, and SIBO. I've seen the best medical practitioners around the country, and spent over $30k trying to get well in both western, functional, and eastern medicine. Truly, Jonny ranks up there with the BEST of them. He is humble and low-pro. He doesn't spend money marketing and building up his brand because he doesn't need to. He puts his focus on his patients, and you can feel it. He is generous in spirit - with his time and vast knowledge. As far as bedside manner, I think he is the absolute best - smart, compassionate, fun, inspiring. He gently holds me accountable to my own commitment to healing. In only 2-3 months, he helped me make breakthroughs I didn't think were possible- especially with my cranial pain. I'd had a hard run and felt really broken down when I started seeing him but he somehow helped get me out of the trenches. He is worth every penny, every minute. If you are suffering from any complex or chronic condition, and you feel like you're at the end of your rope, start with this guy.

About me

Jonathan began as a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) in 2003 and began working at gyms and wellness centers. Later, he became certified in nutritional typing as an Advanced Metabolic Typing Advisor through Healthexcel Inc. in 2006. In 2007 he began certification as a Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology (CHEK) practitioner and Holistic Lifestyle Coach (HLC) through the CHEK institute and finished in 2010 with 283 hours and certification as a CHEK practitioner Lv3 and HLC Lv3. From 2005-2009 he worked at Optimal Fitness Lifestyle Center in San Carlos, CA and provided personal training, nutrition-lifestyle coaching, rehabilitation, athletic training, and orthopedic assessments.

From 2010-2013 he was co-owner of Belmont Personal Training & Nutrition in Belmont, CA where he continued to practice privately and help manage a facility that provided personal training, group fitness, and nutrition consulting. From 2011-2012 he completed 190 hours of training as a Neuro-Somatic Therapist (NST) through Neurosomatic Educators Inc. A NST is a manual therapist who uses postural assessments to design and implement soft tissue treatment plans for dysfunctional posture and movement patterns that create pain. From 2012-2014 he became certified as a Posturologist Lv4 through PosturePro International. Posturology is the study of posture and uses a brain-based approach to correcting posture, chronic pain, and improving strength and function. In 2017 he furthered his knowledge in brain-based postural correction and became a Certified Postural Neurologist (CPN) through the American Posture Institute (API).

In 2010, Jonathan began his training in functional medicine attaining certification as a Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist (FDN) through the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition certification course. Since then he furthered his education in functional medicine through courses offered through Apex Energetics in the areas of functional blood chemistry, brain chemistry and neuro-degenerative conditions, thyroid disorders, functional endocrinology (hormone disorders), autoimmune disorders, and gastrointestinal disorders. Currently he has accrued 349 hours in the field of functional medicine and has been practicing for 8+ years.

In 2012, Jonathan completed undergrad education in human biology at the College of San Mateo in San Mateo, CA. In 2015 he was accepted and transferred into a doctoral program for Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM), a nationally top ranked school in San Francisco, CA. He is currently in his 3rd year and on track to graduate in 2020, where after he will seek licensure as a licensed acupuncturist (LAc). Also, for the past 2 years he has been in a fellowship program for functional neurology through the International Board of Functional Neurology (IBFN), where he plans to attain his post-doctoral certification as a functional neurologist. Functional neurology is an integrative, non-surgical, and non-pharmaceutical approach to brain disorders in order to rehab and optimize brain function.
