After earning my masters degree, I thought nutrition was the key to health, but I quickly learned there was so much more to the picture. I saw so much shame, guilt, and pain behind my client's eating habits - the death of a loved one igniting years of emotional eating, being put on a diet in middle school leading to decades of body image struggle. I discovered that how and why we eat is just as important as what we eat.
I also saw my own relationship with food mirrored in my clients. After gaining weight in college, I felt my identity as "the thin one" was gone. In an effort to regain a sense of control, I tried calorie counting, cutting out several food groups, restricting to one meal per day only to binge at night. It was not until I healed my mind-body connection and shifted from my mind being in control of my body to my body being in charge that I experienced a radical shift in my physical and mental health.
With my clinical nutrition background and experience as an Intuitive Eating Counselor, I am able to help my clients from whole person perspective.
I believe food doesn't deserve to take up valuable brain space - there is so much more to life. I believe your body is not something to be fixed, but a miracle to be celebrated. After years or decades of restrictive dieting, you may find your inner wisdom is clouded by judgment, shame, and guilt - I am passionate about helping women uncover their inner intuitive eater so they can start living life on their terms and experience true food freedom.
Everyone has a "food story" - experiences and influences that have shaped your beliefs about food, nutrition, and eating habits. This is where we will start in your first session - we will cover everything from how eating habits were modeled to you as a child to your experience with your first diet and everything in between. We will outline exactly what you want to have happen as a result of working together and map out how to get there.
My own experience of the profound power of releasing food guilt and rules, body respect, and finding joyful movement has inspired me to help others do the same.
