For over 30 years I've maintained a food-centric and heart-core approach to health and healing, weaving in mind-body modalities with integrative and functional nutrition therapies. Through our work together, my clients, audiences, and readers learn how to create vibrant, nourishing lives that combine the very best of modern nutritional science, nature and wisdom.
I founded and directed cutting-edge nutrition programs at Dr. Mark Hyman’s UltraWellness Center, Canyon Ranch Health Resorts and Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. I wrote The Swift Diet: 4 Weeks to Mend the Belly, Lose the Weight, and Get Rid of the Bloat, co-authored The Inside Tract: Your Good Gut Guide to Health and was a contributing author to Dr. Hyman’s NY Times Bestseller UltraMetabolism.
My passion continues to guide my life and my work. In 2015, my dear friend, Dr. Sheila Dean, and I co-founded the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy (www.IFNAcademy.com), a clinically oriented 100% online training and mentoring program for dietitian/nutritionists and other healthcare professionals. A “whole food as medicine” approach is central to integrative and functional nutrition (IFN) therapy, thus an understanding and application of culinary nutrition concepts, condition-specific healing foods and bioactive compounds in the “food farmacy” is included along with the latest science on supplementation. I am committed to IFNAs mission to “transform the practice of nutrition” by teaching others this holistic and integrative approach so that all may benefit from the very best nutrition has to offer.
I am also a mother, grandmother and the spouse of a military veteran. I care deeply about our children, our families, our country and our dear planet Earth. You will find me out and about in schools, on farms, speaking at conferences, dabbling in kitchens, and hiking on wooded trails in the beautiful Berkshires of Western Massachusetts...grateful for my life and eager to share my love for nutrition.
