Life coach, hypnotherapist, stress expert, author and speaker
Hey all. I am a coach and hypnotherapist. I have been involved in national health and human behavior for over 30 years. I started out as a massage therapist and then expanded my knowledge into other modalities such as Reiki, hypnosis and coaching. I also have my PhD in natural health and studied mind/body medicine at Harvard.
I currently operate out of Santa Barbara, California where I live with my long-term boyfriend and my cat Aleister. I love to help people clarify goals, remove blocks and partner with people to make their dreams come true. I love working with couples and teams as well as individuals. Some of my favorite things are working with values, identifying and maximizing ego states, teaching communication, mindfulness, mindset. I love helping people break down blocks or limiting beliefs that are holding them back from where they truly want to be. I've written 8 books, have lectured around the world including two TEDx talks and I would love to help you reach your full potential and live your best life!!!
Wow that's a tough one, as it was definitely not a straight path for me. My mother died when I was young with cancer and I'm sure that was part the motivation. Though I think it was more watching my father be such an incredible caregiver. I very accidentally apprenticed as a massage therapist in college when I was a theatre major so when I made the journey cross country to Hollywood I figured it would be a great sideline to all the award-winning film roles. The film roles never came but the massage and healing stayed with me. I have since added to that Reiki, herbs, mind body medicine, stress reduction, hypnotherapy and now coaching. I am also the offer of eight books and an international speaker having appeared on stages over 250 times worldwide. To me all of my outlets, the speaking, the writing and in person sessions allow me to fulfill my calling, which is helping people heal, recognize the options they have before them, and inspiring people to reach their ultimate potential.
My first hypnotherapy appointment is about 35 minutes of talking to get to the true root cause of the issue and the rest of the session is done in the hypnotic state. This follows a 15 minute get to know you phone call.
My first coaching session follows a 15 minute discovery called and the client filling out a rather extensive information form that we will cover. We will form our alliance of how we are going to work together, do a few get to know you exercises, put together a working plan to allow the client to get to where they want to go and take it from there.
As well as a coach, hypnosis is one of my other offerings. There are a lot of misconceptions about hypnosis. One of the big ones is that you can get trapped in hypnosis and be made to do things against your will. Hypnosis is actually a very alert state, you will hear everything that is said to you. There is no way for you to get trapped in the state or be completely at the will of someone else. We often reference the people dragged on stage at the state fair, made to do silly things during the stage hypnosis show. Rest assured that is not what we do in a clinical setting and those people are not doing anything that they wouldn't do out of hypnosis. Hypnosis is great at getting deep to the subconscious to help break the pattern such as smoking, fears and phobias or anxieties. My main focus with Hypnosis is pre-surgery programming the body to heal quicker and and it's most optimal way.
