I come from a long line of women who have known how to work with nature and the body's own strengths to preserve health and treat illness. Growing up learning that garlic (garlic oil) treats earaches and that often simply gargling with salt water can cure a sore throat, it came as no surprise to those around me when I announced in 2006 that I was going to enroll at The Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine and study homeopathy. It was a decision that altered the course of my life and has brought me profound fulfillment.
After graduating from the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine and starting a practice I discovered that many patients could benefit from additional support, so I completed my Holistic Nutrition diploma with the Edison Institute of Nutrition. I now weave nutritional healing and support into my practice with great success.
I love practicing holistic medicine, it gives me the chance to combine the knowledge and wisdom that has been passed on to me with my education and my passion for helping people. Stated more plainly - practicing Holistic Healthcare lets me be a geek, a student, and a teacher.
The geek in me relishes the science of health and the ever-expanding library of medical information available – there will always be something new and interesting for me to learn that can help my patients. My patients themselves are endlessly interesting and teach me so much - we are all unique and fascinating individuals.
Distilling the knowledge that I have acquired into relevant easy to understand messages that help my patients make better choices satisfies the teacher in me.
As a healthcare practitioner my favorite thing to hear is “I feel better”. Luckily I get to hear that a lot!
When I am working I feel profoundly privileged every time a patient places their trust in me and lets me help them find their path to health. It is a privilege that I take very seriously.
When I am not working, you can probably find me outside: ‘farming’ in my Toronto yard trying to coax a tomato or 2 out of my north facing shaded yard; working with the bees; paddling through the wilderness of Ontario; or, sailing on Lake of the Woods.
Prior to helping people restore their health I was a professional environmentalist. I graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours B.A. in Environment & Resource Management and a Specialist designation in Environmental Studies. I worked as an independent Environmental Consultant and as a policy and program advisor for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.
