Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Diabetes Educator
I love to see the faces of clients in my cooking classes realize new foods they enjoy! With a MS degree in Nutrition, I work as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), licensed in PA (LDN). I am certified and specialize in Diabetes Care and Education (CDCES) to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to help my clients improve their health with a nutritious diet and healthy lifestyle.
I am also a licensed landscape architect, but after years of designing athletic fields, parks, walking paths, healthcare gardens, I did not feel I made much of a difference in the health of my communities. I went back to school, and now lead a weekly diabetes nutrition class and counsel people with chronic disease. I use behavior modifications my clients select to transform their diet into a healthy lifestyle within a few visits. Their improved blood test results, reduced symptoms and happy stories keep me inspired to keep up with the latest nutrition research for effective diet changes.
The first half of each initial visit is information gathering - I need to know your health history, your genetic health diagnoses, your goals, how you live a typical day, what foods you currently enjoy - the second half is nutrition information that relates to your diagnoses and goals and you tell me what small step or two you decide to make before our next visit
Kirsten gets to know where you are in lifestyle, health, food and helps you decide how you can transition into a healthier diet and lifestyle. Often is takes a few simple recipes or meal timing, when you are ready to make a change.
