About me

(BTW, it’s Leeza!)

Health coach, flame nurturer, and sanity whisperer to under-appreciated, under-listened to, under-taken-care-of, under-valued, overwhelmed, overworked, over-scheduled, and OVER. IT. ALL. working wives and mothers who dream of a starring role in their own lives after too many years of playing best supporting actress in everyone else's.

Full-time Integrative Nutrition® health coach, self-published author, part-time consultant, and woefully underpaid COO of a busy family of four—I adore my crazy life and bring my passion, knowledge, and experience to the table to help you love YOUR life, crazy as it is.

And I can show you how to get there without impossible diets, insane workout regimens, magic pills, silver bullets, and crazy detoxes because that’s how I did it!

I received my health coach training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition® and an AAS in Culinary Arts from the Cooking + Hospitality Institute of Chicago (now part of Le Cordon Bleu). In the years BC (before children), I was the owner and executive chef of a catering and private chef company in Chicago, and I’ve taught cooking and nutrition to all ages.

What does that mean for you? I know the value of nutrition—both the whole foods variety and the more holistic kind—and I can show you how you can make the food and lifestyle choices that nourish you…without adding more “shoulds” and hours to your already overwhelming schedule.

I live with my husband in a half-empty nest in Ann Arbor, MI and am passionate about health and happiness, education and exercise, SOLE food, SOUL food, and social justice.

Another idea would be to eat a lot of veggies for breakfast—that way you'd the micronutrients AND the fiber and minimize the burst of sugar (yes, I know it's natural, it's still a whopping dose of sugar first thing in the morning unless you're focusing on greens. One of my favorite ways to eat veggies for breakfast is to use up leftovers—either straight up or in a scramble—egg or tofu.

I started with nettle tea—much gentler than a supplement—and it worked wonderfully.

Definitely focus on foods that are naturally high in fiber (whole grains, vegetables, nuts, legumes) and in beneficial fats (see Kara's answer), plus a lot of water and herbal tea.
