Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner
As a Feldenkrais practitioner, I help people who have experienced either a physical or emotional trauma/ injury. It could be in the form of neurological difficulties, back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, anxiety and stress as well as compromised breathing.
I offer one hour private sessions. During a session, I slowly guide you with gentle touch and, at times, verbal guidance through movement patterns that enable you to learn to move with greater ease, flexibility, and balance. In addition, clients often leave with a restored sense of calm and greater sense of self.
In addition, I offer group classes and private sessions for families with babies from birth to independent walking. Teaching parents ways to touch, hold, move and interact with their baby, connects with and develops their baby's brain. They learn lessons that set a healthy foundation for lifelong optimal movement habits and self-awareness. This includes early language acquisition and social cuing. Babies gain a clear sense of themselves as they explore life's infinite possibilities for growth and learning.
All of the work I do is founded in the principles of the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education. Feldenkrais uses gentle, slow touch designed to teach a person's nervous system to function more optimally. Dr. Feldenkrais based a lot of his principles from observing how babies learn about themselves and the world around them through the language of movement.
Depending on whether you are an adult or a family with a baby, your first session will differ. Adults can expect an initial conversation about their history and concerns that they wish to address followed by approximately 45-50 minutes of hands-on, non-verbal guidance either while sitting in a chair or lying on a table. Sessions for families with babies can expect an initial conversation followed by a hands-on demonstration and then an opportunity for the parents to practice what they observed.
