Learn More About Phoebe Stewart, L.Ac, MTOM

About me

I have devoted my life to herbalism in all of its forms. I enjoy traveling to countries such as Taiwan, India, and Peru and learning about their traditional forms of herbalism. I enjoy growing medicinal herbs in my garden and harvesting and preparing them in traditional ways to maximize the healing potential of the plant.

While in India, I visited herbalists who gave me seeds for Ashwagandha, Shatavari (medicinal asparagus root- Tian Men Dong), and Jatamansi (Indian Valerian). After growing these plants and cultivating a relationship with them, I decided to delve deeper into the world of herbalism.

I grew these Ayurvedic medicinal roots in traditional ways with traditional Korean farming techniques and was able to harvest the herbs and turn them into medicine. Medicine that I was able to use to help heal those around me. This was the beginning of my journey as an herbalist.

My Philosophy of Care

I believe that all people on this planet deserve access to health through the healing plants provided to us by Mother Earth.
I believe that nobody should ever be dismissed by a medical professional, or told that something is "all in their head"

I believe in a balance-based approach to holistic healing that follows the guidelines of ancient Taoist principles.

What You Can Expect On Your First Visit

Before your first visit you will receive an email from me with medical forms and questionnaires, we will discuss this information during our first session.
During your first session, we will go over initial diagnosis procedures and we will build a diagnosis based on your personal imbalances.
After diagnosis, I will begin to build out your customized herbal formula. I will make the formula and it will be mailed to you. We will also discuss how many sessions may be needed for your symptom set.

My Inspiration

I was inspired to become an Herbalist and Acupuncturist after my own personal struggles with my health. At 19 while in school studying nursing, I was diagnosed with stomach ulcers. This was my wake-up call. My diet was imbalanced, my thinking was imbalanced, and my body was beginning to suffer the consequences. With only the use of Traditional Herbal Medicine (in tincture form) and radically altering my diet, I cured my stomach ulcers completely in 3 months. I have had no stomach problems since!

Questions & Answers

The best type of bone broth is the one that you'll actually eat! It's important for all of us to maintain balance in our pursuit of healthcare. Perfection is not the answer, but holistic balance is. Whether it's beef, chicken, pork, turkey, bison, or fish- all of these bone broths have their own valuable nutritional aspects. I personally prefer the taste of chicken bone broth, but everyone has their own opinion! Happy eating!

Make sure that when you eat, you are focused on eating more than anything else. I like to pick a number (lets say 20) and I try to chew each bite 20 times during my meal. I usually end up filling myself up faster than I usually would. While your stomach does the hard work of digesting, your body releases enzymes in your saliva that assist in the breakdown of food (such as starches/carbs/sugars). That being said, chewing is a very important part of eating that both prepares your stomach for digestion, and makes the act of digesting much easier. When you chew your food thoroughly, your body spends less energy on digesting and in turn you may see an increase in energy throughout the day. Happy eating!

For iron deficiency (and all anemia), I utilize Desiccated Liver Pills. When our ancestors ate meat, they ate the whole animal- including the organ meat. Liver contains the one of the highest concentrations of iron in the world of food. While many people still eat and enjoy liver, many people do not enjoy the taste or texture. I find the Desiccated Liver Pills to be the perfect balance. They provide a naturally occurring source of iron without needing to restructure the entire diet. Traditional Chinese Medicinal Herbal therapy utilizes the power of herbs to boost the iron content of the blood in the short term- while also treating the underlying hemoglobin deficiency and the imbalances that caused it. Proper herbal consulting can assist in bringing more oxygen to your blood cells, resulting in more normal blood oxygen and iron levels. With herbalism, you may experience reduced brain fog and reduced exhaustion as well as an easier time exercising, sleeping, and maintaining energy levels. Best of luck to you!
