In the first few sessions, we'll focus on connecting, talking about what's bringing you into counseling at this moment, and what you want to be different when we're done. My focus is on helping create connection so that you feel seen, heard & understood & that this is a space where you feel safe enough to do the healing work. Duration of treatment: This depends on many factors & is ultimately up to you. We can talk more about this & I'm happy to offer an initial estimate as we discuss what you are wanting from our work together. Outcome: Whatever your specific goals for counseling, we will be sure we choose together a path that moves you forward to the transformation you are hoping for. Responsibility: Counseling is an awesome investment into your wholistic wellbeing. It's often challenging & can take a bit of time (6 months to 1 year is a standard length for many. Duration will depend on your goals & other variables of your unique situation). Nothing worth while happens immediately & often requires courage & hard work. My role is to come along side you, offer skills, support, understanding, encouragement, guidance. In the right environment, with the right support, we are freed to increasingly rise to our best. I will make every effort to help facilitate this for you.

My priority is creating connection between us so that you feel seen, heard & understood & that this is a space where you feel safe enough to do the healing work. Parent Involvement: I do ask at least one parent to join the first session for at least 10 minutes or so to go over confidentiality, policies & procedures all together. After that, I welcome parent questions & concerns. As it is your (the teen's) therapy, I defer to you about if/when you would like to invite a parent(s) into session to discuss something. We can talk more about this & I'm happy to explain what this would look like. It's a balance. Teens, you need to know this is a place where what we talk about stays in the room so you're comfortable enough to discuss whatever. Parents, you're trusting me with a lot & I take it seriously. It's important to me that you feel good about who I am, my approach & the work your teen and I are doing. Duration of treatment: This depends on many factors & is ultimately up to you. We can talk more about this & I'm happy to offer an initial estimate as we discuss what you are wanting from our work together. 6 months to a year is a good estimate for many people. It still depends on your goals & your unique situation.
