I enjoy helping my clients uncover the root cause of their health issues. I apply a personalized treatment approach to every unique individual to help them improve the quality of their lives.
I have 15 years experience as a nutrition professional – registered dietitian and nutritionist – in a variety of healthcare settings. Here is a little information about my background. I was raised holistically with an emphasis on the power of proper nutrition, which guided me to become a nutrition professional. I received a Bachelors in Biochemistry at the University of California in San Diego where I worked in science research laboratories. Then I decided to move back to Hawaii to get my Masters in Nutritional Sciences and complete the Dietetics program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. After finishing these programs, I came back to California to attend the dietetic internship program at California State University at Long Beach. Then I became a Registered Dietitian and began my career in dietetics helping patients improve the quality of their lives and chronic diseases through the power of nutrition. A few years after that I discovered Functional Medicine and my true passion was born! According to the Institute of Functional Medicine, “Functional medicine determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual.” Functional Nutrition uses the concepts of functional medicine to help patients improve their overall health. Seeing people turn their health around is so inspiring and why I love working with people like you. I look forward to working with you and partnering with any of your healthcare providers.
I follow the Functional Medicine/Nutrition model.
During the first visit I try to get a comprehensive understanding of the client's health and nutrition history. Try to understand their story. I ask a lot of questions and record their answers. Then I come up with a plan to get more information and help them reach their true potential.
My mother became a massage therapist and chiropractor when I was young. She raised me in an environment where she was always talking about nutrition and educating me at a young age. She encouraged me to try different herbs and vegetables and use them as well as other natural remedies for healing. She truly influenced my curiosity and love for nutrition and natural health. This drove me to want to learn how to help others improve the quality of their health.
