April began her career working as a nurse in acute care before obtaining a Master’s in Public Health Nursing. She knew the best way for patients to get well was to provide the education they needed to make their own informed healthcare decisions. She has always focused on the whole person and holistic nursing, but it wasn’t until her son suffered a traumatic brain injury that she discovered cannabis as medicine.
April is Healer Certified, a member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association, a member of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, a member of the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association, and a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association. She is committed to continuous learning and has taken several courses on cannabis for health care professionals, and received hands-on training in Maine with Dr. Dustin Sulak, of Healer. Additionally, April’s participation in roles in the industry include promoting diversity among the industry, and is on several committees with the goal to increase affordable access to safe, quality medical cannabis.
She currently provides cannabis education with individual patients, groups of patients with specific needs, and you can frequently find her speaking on professional panels.
As a professor at St Louis University, she has developed part of the syllabi for students of the Cannabis Science and Operations Program. However, she is most proud of her relationships with her patients and the opportunity to see them heal.
We believe every person has a right to:
Equitable, ethical, accessible quality healthcare, and cannabis that promotes healing and health
Complete and accurate information to make informed health care decisions
Self-determination and active participation in health care decisions
Involvement of the patient's designated family members and healthcare providers

"I can remember even as a young child I wanted to help people and believed becoming a nurse would give me that opportunity. I practiced in traditional healthcare for 10 years and did not feel like I was able to provide the help my patients needed. We weren't given the opportunity to provide the education and support that patients truly need to improve their lives. Once I discovered the value of medical cannabis I quickly realized I now had the opportunity to do what I always dreamed of."- April
