Having Brooke as my therapist was EXACTLY what I needed. I was suffering from pretty intense anxiety and depression. And she broke down my thoughts and feelings in a way that made me full realize the trap my brain was setting. After a few sessions, I had already seen an improvement, and now just a few months later I am way more positive, have energy, have motivation, and more importantly, have the right tools for managing my anxiety if it comes back. Not only that, my clarity has brought about positive change to my relationships at home and at work and improved so much more. Highly recommend Brooke to anyone suffering from anxiety or stress.
Brooke is an amazing therapist. Her warm demeanor and direct approach are part of what makes her a great therapist. She has helped myself and my daughter cope with depression and anxiety; provided us with tools to navigate through not so great times. She is always cheerful, and validating. We couldn’t have gotten this far without her. I would highly recommend her.
Brooke has been helping me for over a year now. I always feel much better after talking with her. Depression and anxiety have been a massive struggle for me lately and my overall health has suffered for it. Brooke has helped me reach a point where I am able to maintain focus on what is important to me while focusing less on what people think of me or on my past regrets and trauma.

About me

I am a mom and business owner. I have learned to wear many hats and manage the stress that comes with filling multiple roles while still staying focused on my own personal and business development. Originally from the Midwest, I spent 20 years in California and have lived the last 10 years in the Pacific Northwest. I love hiking, yoga, traveling, cooking and spending time with friends and family. Parenting has been one of the greatest joys and challenges for me and I love supporting others to successfully parent each stage of development. I am a lifelong learner and I strive to consistently walk my talk; the emotion regulation tools and practices I teach clients have worked for me as well as countless others. I have been working in the mental health and personal development space for nearly 20 years and I get deep satisfaction from helping others gain insight and tools for creating movement in their lives and reaching their goals. My style is compassionate, direct and authentic with a good dose of humor wherever I see an opening!

My Philosophy of Care

Looking back, I was an anxious kid but my anxiety really kicked in after college and the years that followed. Therapy helped me to connect the dots between my patterns and their origins and to be kinder to myself. From there I began the journey of learning how to manage my stress, anxiety and mood and the importance of self care.
When I discovered coaching, I learned what it takes to expand beyond my comfort zone for transformative growth. I love supporting others along that same path of discovery and expansion.

My Inspiration

You will not be judged. Your feelings and needs are valid. Pain is pain -- your problems are important enough to be shared and addressed, even if others have it worse. Depression and anxiety are totally treatable and manageable. Find a therapist who feels like a fit. If it's not a fit, move on -- there's a million of us out there -- but don't give up on hope and the willingness to find the support you need. We all need support, and no one is meant to live this life alone!

Questions & Answers

Brooke Miller, MSW, LCSW, CPC Answers
I love this question because it brings up the powerful Mindfulness concept of Non-Judgment. Replacing Judgment with Curiosity is a useful tool for interrupting the program of criticism and doubt we all deal with to some extent. Using a mindhack like this is a wonderful way to start reprogramming your thinking and living consciously instead of living on autopilot. Practicing that pivot in our perspective -- from judgment to curiosity -- is also an excellent way to develop self-compassion, which creates a solid foundation for peace.

The benefits of counseling with someone you feel safe and comfortable with can be truly life-changing. In addition to the benefit of verbally unloading and processing whatever is on your mind, it is one relationship that is focused entirely on you -- your challenges, your strengths, your fears, your curiosities, your goals and anything else that shows up in session. Talking with a counselor/therapist is different than talking to a trusted friend or loved one because your counselor knows how to listen for patterns and help you sort through emotionally charged situations you can't see clearly because you are too close. In addition to receiving an objective viewpoint and learning new skills, counseling can bring relief through normalizing problems that we feel alone with, when in Truth are often very common.

I have been working with Brooke since 2016. Initially, I starting seeing her following a relationship breakup. She helped to guide me from that experience. I have since been working with her for personal growth and exploration. She is a very nurturing counselor but she will also challenge you to look deeper into situations. She will help with symptoms but she excels at getting to the source of issues. Brooke is a valuable part of my health team.
