The first session is an hour and a half. We will talk about the challenge that you want to work on and I will start teaching you some strategies and resources to help you with stressful times. I will explain hypnosis, what it is and what it isn't. You will experience hypnosis and leave feeling much better.
1. Will I lose control?
No, you will always be in control, no one can make you do or say anything that you don’t want to do, while in hypnosis.
2. Will I bark like a dog or cluck like a chicken?
What you have heard about or seen is stage hypnosis. Stage hypnosis is for entertainment. The hypnotist has a group of volunteers come to the stage and then he carefully selects ones he feels will take his suggestions. Notice how many he has sit down. The others will bark like a dog because somewhere inside of them is a part that wants to entertain. They will do it because inside they don’t feel that it is wrong to bark like a dog.
3. My friend tried hypnosis for weight loss and it didn’t work.
There is more to weight loss than just a few hypnotic suggestions. The person must really want to lose weight, they must want to change and they must have a replacement for the pleasure they get from food. They must understand the emotional reasons they eat. Hypnosis can be a wonderful tool to help the person find a replacement and deal with the emotions that keep them stuck. It also takes effort from the person to do the homework given and patience. The weight didn’t come on overnight and it won’t come off overnight.
4. Is hypnosis dangerous?
There are lots of myths out there about hypnosis, promoted by movies, books and urban legends, that lead people to have all kind of ideas about hypnosis. Hypnosis is no more dangerous than daydreaming, or getting lost in a good book or movie. You are always in control, in fact the more you relax the more in control you are. When you are relaxed in hypnosis that is when you have access to your subconscious mind, that drives our lives.
5. Can I be hypnotized?
Once you understand hypnosis and know that you are safe and in control, everyone can be hypnotized. After all we go in and out of trance all day long.
6. Will I be asleep or unconscious while in hypnosis?
No, you will be very relaxed and look like you are asleep, because your body is in a deep state of physical relaxation, but you are not asleep. Just like when someone is lost in a video game or a good book, someone may say something to them but they are so engrossed in what they are doing they aren’t aware that someone is there.
7. What does hypnosis feel like?
It is the most wonderful relaxed feeling you may ever feel. Everyone has different experiences, some feel like they are floating or feel a heaviness or a lightness of their limbs. Most just feel so profoundly relaxed and at ease, they are surprised how good they can feel by relaxing their minds.
