Darlene has a private personal training studio with no gym membership in the Greatwood area and can see you in her studio or meet you online with virtual training. Darlene has been in the fitness industry for 20 years dedicating her efforts into making clients the best versions of themselves.
The reason I became a wellness specialist was because of my family history of heart disease and strokes.
At the age of 8 years old I started noticing the obesity in my family. When I was at family gatherings I watched as most of my family members over ate. I taught myself to stop eating when I was full and to push away from the table. This was the first thought about my destiny.
Heart Disease ran on my father’s side of our family. Most of the men on my father’s side of the family died before the age of 50 years old. When I was 19 years old, my father died at the age of 67. This was my second thought of my destiny if I didn’t change the way I lived.
Strokes run on my mother’s side of our family. Most of the women on my mother’s side of the family have had strokes and died or ended up in a nursing home. When I was 26 years old, my mother had her first stoke at 62 years old. I saw my destiny again because I was a smoker like my mother and father. When my mother had her first stroke, the doctors told her to quit smoking. My Mother told me she didn’t want to quit smoking. So I made a deal with her that if she would quit smoking I would quit smoking too. So we did! Soon as I quit smoking I joined my first gym and stated exercising. This was the third time I saw my destiny and I really wanted to change my destiny.
After seeing three different times in my life that I needed to change my part of our family medical history. I have never stopped exercising since my mother’s first stroke. I hired a personal trainer and fell in love with having a personal trainer. After having a personal trainer for several years, I decided I wanted to be a personal trainer. I now have been a personal trainer for 20 years. Exercising is my hobby and I’ve made my hobby my career and I love it.
After we have our first consultation, we will start with our first session. Your first session will be starting with what we decided to have as your first goal. Depending on your goals, we would start you any where from stretching, cardio to using some weights.
My inspiration to become a functional personal trainer was my family long history of heart disease. I worked out on my own for many years and didn't reach my goals on my own. I hired a personal fitness trainer and that is when I saw the change in my health. My trainer helped me with my food, strength and cardio to get me stronger and healthier. I fell in love with training. I wanted to help others get to where I did so I went one step further and became a functional personal trainer.
