About me

Dr. Walsh-Van Keuren is Licensed in Acupuncture and Herbology by the Medical Board of California and received her Ph. D. from the American University of Complementary Medicine (AUCM) in the department of Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM). Through this program she has had the opportunity to study extensively with Jeffrey Yuen, 88th generation Taoist Priest, acupuncturist and herbalist.
Areas of specialization include: Auto-immune Diseases, Chronic Degenerative Diseases, Emotional Disorders due to biochemical imbalance, Neuro-Emotional Technique(NET), Clinical Aromatherapy, Functional Medicine Nutritional Therapy, and Qi mobilization.

Dr. Walsh-Van Keuren considers herself a clinician first, and she is also a university professor, professional formulator and consultant, researcher, and published author.
She practices natural medicine in Los Gatos, CA. She lives happily ever after with her musical prince, enjoying her family all over the U.S. whenever possible.

“I have always perceived the human being as an intricate composition of energetic routes and ‘Health’ as the unobstructed flow of these subtle energies within a biological structure. We are intrinsically regenerative and when properly supported therapeutically, the body’s instinctive wisdom will seek the state of vital, dynamic health.”

My Philosophy of Care

I have studied Health all my life. I was a high level professional dance performer and teacher and that understanding of movement was the best foundation. My Mother was someone who was very concerned with feeding her family a healthy diet without any preservatives or additives. She baked bread for her family of 8 every Wednesday as I grew up. Once I had children of my own, I studied the use of medicinal herbs and finally found my way to The Tao, and Chinese Medicine by the time I was 33 and have grown my knowledge over the years that i have been in school or a professional Doctor of Chinese Medicine My Teacher, Jeffrey Yuen, continues to inspire me.

What You Can Expect On Your First Visit

The First Visit is a combination of a complete heath history taking combined with the first treatment. My Check in takes place on the iPad, and the entire first visit takes 90 minutes.

My Inspiration

The Treatment is very relaxing and de-stressing. The Music is relaxing. Essential oils are available to help the process of taking all the stress away.
I like to have my first time patients come in with a list of symptoms, a list of supplements and medications, and copies of any recent lab tests that have been taken.

My Secret weapon is True Chi Immune Power. I take it almost every day. It is safe for long-term use. It is based on Chinese herbal medicine. The basis of the formula is Yu Ping Feng San (Jade Windscreen) but there are more immune herbs in it. I keep it in my car so I can be sure to take it before going into a more heavily populated areas including my work space if there is a flu epidemic. It is a very effective product that I have trouble keeping in stock at my private practice as it flies off the shelf.

In Chinese Medicine, the Individual is treated, not the disease, condition or symptom. That being said, there are some reliable points on the body that do not disappoint for treating a person with anxiety. Ear Points are extremely effective. And the relationship between organ partners is usually the guiding Point Selection Principle. For Example, if the Anxiety is due to a poor relationship between the Heart and Kidney, then the relationship between those to "Zang" organs is re-established in the Acupuncture Treatment.
