I've been coming here for almost two months. It was my first time doing yoga and I was very anxious. Now I feel comfortable with the staff and members and the studio. They have helped my mental and physical health so much in so little time. I am a stronger person inside and out. They have an affordable introduction rate and a financial aid rate. They have community yoga classes by donation. I have recommended this studio to multiple people. I love it here, I am so glad I got up the nerve to try it!
I started practicing Yoga at Breathing Time Yoga as preparation for another activity however, as it turns out, it is probably the best thing I have ever done for myself. The outstanding staff is knowledgeable and accommodating to individual needs and obviously love what they do. I am hooked and have found a home.

About me

Yoga found me at the early age of 13 when I learned to meditate in a small ashram in Philadelphia. I practiced through my teens and twenties. Yogic meditation stabilized me at a turbulent time both in my life and in the world. I lost the thread of yoga in my twenties but came back to yoga in my early 30s when I was disabled by a serious Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, and fibromyalgia. Yoga became and essential part of my healing. With gratitude for this gift I became a yoga teacher in 1994 and eventually founded my own yoga studio, Breathing Time Yoga in 2000.

My fundamental understanding of yoga is that the practice of yoga is a personal empowerment for healing. Therefore I teach you what you can do for yourself to heal yourself. It is not something I do to you, or for you. I simply teach you what may do for yourself. I will support and encourage you, but you will do the healing work.

My understanding of people is that each one is unique, no two are alike in all respects. My training in Viniyoga allows me to customize practices to who you are, what issues you have and what your goals are. Each person is taught unique practices. There is no cookie cutter solution.

I deepened my studies of yoga with intensive study with Gary Kraftsow of the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI) since 2001, completing AVI's rigorous yoga therapist training in 2006. I have supplemented my training with studies with of yoga nidra and iRest with Richard Miller, Yoga for Depression and Anxiety with Amy Weintraub, Yoga for Back Care and Yoga for Upper back Neck and Shoulder with Robin Rothenberg, and others.
