I am an acupuncturist, holistic health educator, qigong instructor and a minister, serving as a guide on the journey to your best health.
I have been in the healing arts since 1983 when I began studying massage therapy. I enjoyed this career and balanced it with teaching skiing for a decade at Alpine Meadows. 1994 saw the end of both of those careers when I began a long journey of healing from a sudden health condition for which Western medicine had no treatment.
My healing journey led me on a fascinating adventure of reclaiming wholeness. Along the way, I attained a MA in Holistic Health Education with a specialty in Art & Healing from JFK University, and become ordained as a Holistic Minister after a 3+ year sacred course of study in altered states of consciousness at the Stargate Mystery School through the Center for Sacred Studies.
In 2001, I co-founded Morningstar Foundation: Spiritual Care for Living, Dying and Bereavement, serving as the Director of Holistic Health and Bereavement Services. Here we utilized ceremony and counseling to support people through the process of living with a life threatening illness, through dying if this is where it led, and offered their loved ones bereavement support as needed.
It wasn't until 2004 that I went on to to study Chinese medicine at Five Branches University. It was quite an adventure to travel to China and learn how this medicine is practiced in its homeland. As further training became available, I became a Certified Provider of Hospice and Palliative Care Acupuncture.
I also love holding sound healing events with my partner & musician, Kenneth Hooper.
My treatments are designed to stimulate your body's own healing mechanisms while bringing you to a state of internal harmony and relaxed balance. "If there is free flow, there is no pain. If there is pain, there is no free flow" is a common Chinese medicine phrase. I focus on freeing your energy flow in a variety of ways, using needles, tuning forks, herbs, cupping, qigong, Craniosacral Therapy, NEAT, guided meditations & a variety of other modalities designed to support your optimal health.
My patients describe their first session as thorough and relaxing. We begin with discussing their health history. They then get comfortable on my table where I use more Chinese medicine diagnosis tools such as taking their pulses. Then I will insert tiny needles and let them rest with soothing music. My patients report increased resilience, reduced or eliminated pain and greater vitality. If they arrive with pain, they are often surprised by how much better they feel in such a short time.
I learned early on that I am skilled at healing touch. Healing has called to me all of my adult life. It gives me purpose, and keeps me connected. I still find it exciting to witness someone releasing pain, no longer needing a planned surgery, or reducing or eliminating side effects of pharmaceuticals. My own healing journey has been rich, magical and plenty of hard work. I have both experienced and witnessed the uniqueness of healing and am ready to guide you on your journey towards wholeness.
