Kathy, also known as KATICA, is a 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist, Ayurvedic Health Educator, and a Master Reiki Practitioner. She is a member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) and a lifelong learner of holistic health modalities who loves to share what she has learned with her clients, friends and family.
She began her yoga journey in the fall of 2000 at the Dharma Yoga Center in New York City after being diagnosed with hyperthyroid. While working full-time as a Fashion Designer, she started practicing yoga twice a week in order to counteract the symptoms of her thyroid condition.
In January 2004, Kathy’s love for yoga led her to enroll in a teacher-training course in Miami, Florida where she first learned about the beautiful science of Ayurveda and how it supported the practice of yoga. Kathy taught at local studios and spas in Miami, while also implementing “Yoga for Lunch” into the corporate world. In addition, she taught private clients at their homes and businesses.
In November 2005, Kathy moved to Columbus, Ohio. The first thing she did upon arriving was to take a tour of the city to find all the local yoga studios. She has taught at McConnell Heart Health Center, local studios, country clubs, and owned a yoga and wellness studio in Worthington, OH.
Kathy has trained with Sarah Powers, Gary Kraftsow, Rodney Yee, Paul Grilley, Cyndi Lee, and many others. Her fluid yoga style is sometimes referred to as a “dance", as she links one pose to the next with each breath. Kathy's continuing studies and personal health experiences with Yoga, Reiki, Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, have led her to teach in a way that blends all these practices.
In October 2015, Kathy decided to formally train in Ayurvedic medicine with the California College of Ayurveda. Her intention is to be of service to her community.
Kathy now lives near Orlando, Florida, with her family and consults with clients locally and via long distance.
Kathy’s favorite quote by Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
I began my yoga journey in the fall of 2000 at the Dharma Yoga Center in New York City after being diagnosed with hyperthyroid. While working full-time as a Fashion Designer, I started practicing yoga twice a week in order to counteract the symptoms of my thyroid condition. Yoga transformed my life and led me to Ayurveda and Reiki.
"Kathy has truly been blessed with the spiritual gift of healing, and lucky for us, she’s had the courage to pursue this calling and make it her life’s work. Kathy’s warm, gentle, caring demeanor, combined with her wealth of knowledge & abundance of true life experience, makes for a wonderful educator of Ayurveda. I’m so thankful that I’ve had the pleasure of having her as my guide on this journey towards finding balance in my life."
