"I can't thank Katie enough for getting me started on the path of proper nutrition. Without Katie, I would still be overweight, confused, and unhappy with who I am. I regularly reference the information she provided me."
"Katie is a great resource for my son who swims at least 6 times per week. He needed to hear how important nutrition was from someone other than his parents and Katie was the right one. Being an athlete herself, she immediately had credibility with Ben and he took her advice and implemented a lot of it. Her suggestions are helping Ben keep up his energy and he is staying healthy during his intense training. It also helped me make sure I was putting the right food at the right time in front of him. I highly recommend even just one session with Katie, but we will be touching base with her on a regular basis."
"Katie systematically guided me through a process to identify food sensitivities in my diet, identify missing vitamins and minerals and determine proper supplementation, and also helped with meal planning including pre and post workout meals. I’ve attended her lectures on ‘Performance Nutrition’, ‘Avoiding Dining Out Disasters’, and ‘Fighting Cancer with Your Fork’. She is passionate about her work and very conscientious in every aspect of it from working 1-1 with clients to teaching in a group setting. Thanks Katie for the ‘tune-up’. I’m running better than I have in years!"

About me

My Personal Journey:
My mom was diagnosed with Celiac disease (an autoimmune disease) when I was only 8 years old and I believe that is when the seed was planted in regards to my passion for nutrition. I enjoyed spending time in the kitchen making healthy and tasty gluten free foods that my mom could enjoy. At the age of 12 I started running and have considered myself an athlete every since. I struggled with under-fueling during high school and into college. At that time I succumbed to the pressures to be thin and the false promise that being thin (underweight) would make me fast. During my first year in college and while running for the University of Colorado, I was diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia. This was when the light bulb went off and I started to realize that I would never perform well if I did not fuel my body correctly. At that time there was very little support for nutrition as a college athlete and I stumbled around, trying to figure out how to fuel properly for my sport. I made several mistakes, but eventually started to figure out how to fuel for optimal performance.

After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in Kinesiology, I decided I wanted to pursue more education in nutrition. I wanted to help others fuel properly and optimize their health. After much hard work, I was finally accepted into graduate school at Colorado State University, where I graduated with a master's degree in Human Nutrition. I became a dietitian in February of 2012 and have been working to help others ever since.

My specialties include performance nutrition, weight management, nutrition for autoimmune diseases, nutrition for recovery from addiction, gastrointestinal health, cardiovascular health, and eating disorders/body image.

As an athlete, I believe that I unique understanding of the many challenges athletes and fitness enthusiasts encounter and this includes nutrition.

I have the experience and expertise to provide performance nutrition solutions for individuals of all ages and abilities. This includes the high school athlete looking to make it to the next level and participate in college sports, the age group athlete wanting to improve fitness, or the person that is just starting in their journey to better health. My experience includes helping individuals improve body composition. I can help anyone who wants to perform and feel their best.

As a dietitian/nutritionist, I enjoy providing my clients with individualized nutrition plans. I do not believe in cookie cutter nutrition and there is no one size fits all when it comes to health, fitness, and nutrition. Nutrition needs may differ depending on the time of year, activity, goals, and other personal factors. My role is to help my clients in their personal journey by providing education and support.

My experience as a registered dietitian includes:

-Clinical Dietitian/Outpatient Dietitian at the University of Colorado Health working with bariatric patients, diabetes education, eating disorders, weight loss, and digestive health (including irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease): 2014-current

My athletic achievements include:
-Marathon PR of 2:59 in the Vermont City Marathon in 2010

-Competed in the Fort Collins Fortitude 10 k race on September 4th and coming in 1st in my age group and 15th female overall out of 3,765 female finishers
-First female and 10th overall in the Run Rabbit Run 50 mile trail race in Steamboat, Colorado on September 9th, 2017

I have experience working with a variety of athletes and active individuals. I have worked with athletes at both the University of Colorado and Colorado State University as a consult sports dietitian. At both schools I provided nutrition education to all division I student athletes and sports teams. During graduate school I worked with the Colorado State Triathlon team providing nutrition lectures and working individually with athletes on the team. I have experience proving nutrition seminars to high school sports teams. I enjoy working with a variety of athletes of all ages and abilities.
