I’ve worked with Laura since Sept 2012 and it’s much more than just fitness training. She was my ally, my teammate, my coach! She addresses the whole person’s needs: physical, nutritional, and psychological. And if an exercise or plan isn’t working, she continually researches and tries new exercises, plans, and nutritional approaches for a personal best fit and success. She took my personal goal of extending my mobility and independence as long as possible very seriously, and our ongoing plan morphs to whatever is needed: fitness, strength, flexibility, mobility, balance and/or injury recovery. She helped me work through some psychological traps that caused me stress and transformed my views on life, health and happiness. I would never have felt as great as I do without her! I’m also impressed on her continual learning and certifications on addressing the complete person, and is always open to new perspectives. And she’s willing to have the hard conversations with you to be a better you! She adds much more value in addition to guiding you on your personal health journey.

Laura is incredibly knowledgeable about the human body, how it moves, what works and what doesn't, and how food and exercise impact our overall well-being. I have had major back injuries over the years and she has worked with me through each episode, making sure I could continue my training, stay strong, and recover. I honestly don't know what I'd do without her. She's incredibly talented at tailoring training sessions to each particular person and she genuinely cares about everyone she trains. About me

I am a certified health coach, life coach, personal trainer, nutrition specialist, and mobility specialist. My purpose in life is to help people enhance their relationship with their body and mind.

I’m here because I know what it feels like to struggle with how your body affects your mind, and I can help.

I believe in a different approach to reach your health and fitness goals.

I don’t just focus on your body, I focus on the connection between your body and your mind.

My Philosophy of Care

I always struggled with weight loss. I hated the feeling and how it affected my view of myself. I also suffered from 9 broken bones and wanted to understand how to keep my body functional. I didn't know what to eat or how to exercise to get the results I wanted without injury, not anymore! I am grateful for my transformation and I want to help people understand their body and see that being healthy can be fun. I was inspired by my own suffering and wanted to help make sure people didn't have to suffer as I did.

GREAT question, and I would ask you what does judgment do for you? When has judgement provoked you to change? How do you feel after you judge yourself? Ultimately judgement doesn't have any positive value to us. It's a way that we bully ourselves because we've attached expectations to certain things. So why judge at all? Whereas curiosity is a whole different light. When you are curious there aren't any expectations. You don't know what to expect, it's almost as if you're in an experiment trying to understand how things might play out. What happens after curiosity? You learn and grow!! Curiosity helps us understand and shows us opportunities to improve. Judgement just makes us feel bad. If you want to have a different experience would you rather judge it and feel bad OR be curious and learn how to improve it?

You start by stopping with deprivation and healing the relationship you have with food. I used to have this terrible habit myself and it took me a while to understand how to stop it. I used to be perfect Monday through Friday and then binge on the weekends and I would never see progress. And then I got more educated and stepping into my health coaching practice further. It helped me create balance in my life. I still have treats, but because I'm not depriving myself so I can enjoy my treats in a way that isn't harmful to my life or my body, while also enjoying a balanced lifestyle. I have so much more information I'm happy to share, but it starts with you accepting to do things differently starting with healing your food relationship.

That is a loaded question. There's lots that go into it. Understanding your specific body needs is very complicated. Every body is unique and has its own compass to guide you to know what's best for it. The problem is we've been taught to ignore the signals and we try to think it instead of feeling what's best. Understanding the digestive system and how it prefers to work is important. A common misconception is around our internal environment. Meaning what's going on inside, how are our hormones fluctuating, which nervous system are we in. This is influenced by our mental state. So if you're constantly stressed, you will activate a specific nervous system branch which makes it very hard to lose weight. I met Laura when, frustrated with my body and myself, I turned to personal training to achieve my weight loss goals. In Laura I not only found a partner to teach, motivate and nudge me in the right direction, I also found someone who understands the science behind health, weight, nutrition and exercise and, most importantly, some who simply cares. No matter my successes, setbacks or everything in between, Laura has been right there with me, first as personal trainer and now also as a coach.
