I'm confident that we all have the power to heal ourselves, we just need some support and direction to get there. As an acupuncturist with over 20 years of experience PLUS a background in counseling, I know how hard it can be when you just don't feel like yourself and you're not getting answers from your doctors. I've helped hundreds of people just like you to figure out the root cause of their pain, hormonal imbalances, anxiety, and more, resolve the underlying issue, and go on to live healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives.
As a breast cancer survivor, I'm particularly passionate about helping other cancer patients navigate the challenges of treatment and come out the other side as healthy and vibrant as possible. Every day I help people experiencing lingering neuropathy and pain, sexual dysfuction from hormone blocking medications, anxiety and sleep disturbances, PTSD, and more.
In addition to Chinese medicine, I'm passionate about cannabis as medicine. My own cancer journey took me down the road of medical cannabis use, and the more I learned, the more fascinated I became. I've done HOURS of research, and now my practice includes coaching my patients to safely use cannabis when it is appropriate for their conditions. Yes, herb-drug interactions are a thing - it really IS medicine.
When I'm not in the clinic, you'll find me in the kitchen cooking up fabulous international food, snuggled up with a good book with my husband and cat, or riding crazy miles on a bicycle.
From the time I was a child I wanted to "help people". I knew I wanted to be a therapist when I was 11 years old, and the only field I've ever worked in is healthcare. From running my father's dental practice when I was 16, to working as a substance abuse counselor in my 20's, to becoming an acupuncturist, healthcare has been my lifelong calling and passion. I seriously considered going to medical school, saw how 3rd party payment was changing the doctor's ability to practice the "art" as well as the "science" of medicine, and decided on acupuncture instead. Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the only fields where mind and body are seen as intimately interconnected, in fact inseparable. So it was a natural route for me to combine my love for all things psychological with my desire to be a primary care provider of medical services.
Calming and relaxing. They always say they feel safe, nurtured, and cared for and they leave feeling peaceful and relaxed. We call it the "acupuncture buzz".
It's way less scary than you think. The needles are tiny - you can fit 10 of them into a typical hypodermic needle. And while there can be sensation, it really doesn't hurt. Most people find that they relax deeply and even fall asleep during their treatment and feel refreshed when it's done. And I personally pass out with every injection or IV and am super sensitive, so I have developed a VERY gentle touch!
