About me

During the past thirty years, I have worked with thousands of people in pain in my Ortho-Bionomy private practice, and have developed release techniques for carpal tunnel syndrome and neuritis conditions of the arm and shoulder. In Self Care Seminars I observe the empowering results and the effectiveness of educating individuals to attune to comfort and to apply the principles and techniques of Ortho-Bionomy for pain relief. With a respectful, playful and empowering approach, I enjoy teaching and encouraging self-discovery to enhance the quality of one's life.

My interest in Ortho-Bionomy Self Care began in response to my own injuries and near death experience following a motorcycle accident. Undergraduate studies in Pre-Med and a BA degree in psychology with a minor in education from UCLA in 1970 drew me to study modalities that not only could effectively relieve pain, but also would respect individual differences and address the mind/body connection. Currently, I am licensed as a massage therapist in Florida and am certified as a continuing education provider with the State of Florida and with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). I teach over thirty courses a year in the US and Australia, and throughout the years have taught Ortho-Bionomy courses in Japan, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, New Zealand and Jamaica. I train instructors, mentor practitioners, and wrote the book, Ortho-Bionomy, A Path to Self Care available on Amazon.com

My Philosophy of Care

Ortho-Bionomy is based in the principle that all life and everybody has the inherent capacity to self-correct. In this work there are no sudden or forceful moves, only slow movement away from pain and supportive positioning toward comfort to allow the body to release pain in seconds. Since the gentle positioning stimulates the release, the body learns to move toward comfort and alignment at a pace that the body can support.

What You Can Expect On Your First Visit

The practitioner and client will identify any areas of discomfort, tension and pain, and discuss history of injuries that could be contributing to the issue. The client fully clothed will lie on the table and the practitioner gently moves the body to find positions of maximum of comfort for each of the areas of concern. After 20 - 60 seconds the practitioner brings the client out of the position and rechecks the painful areas for change.

My Inspiration

A serious motorcycle accident led me to seek out various treatments for pain. I was feeling pretty hopeless after visiting many practitioners of chiropractic and other modalities. During my first Ortho-Bionomy session I was astounded at how little the practitioner did, yet my tension released easily and my pain was gone. I was fascinated by this gentle effective work and began to study how to help others relieve pain and come back to structural alignment.
