My family worked with Manon Banuelos at Calm & Confident Doula Care during our pregnancy as our birth doula. I reached out to Melinda early in my pregnancy and she suggested we meet with Manon. Manon was the first and only doula we interviewed because from the moment we met, my husband, Patrick, and I felt instantly connected with her. She was a fantastic support system throughout my pregnancy — always a source of comfort and empathy when I was stressed, sick, or sad. At least every few weeks since the first trimester Manon would check in with me to see how I was doing and made it clear she was available to me for any support I needed. The prenatal visits before the birth were invaluable! Manon shared all of her knowledge and experience regarding birth plans, books, laboring positions, support during labor, post-baby care, breastfeeding, and just about anything else baby related. After these visits, my husband and I both felt prepared, excited and supported going into the birth. My labor was long and exhausting. Manon went above and beyond in every way possible. She basically didn't leave our side for days as my labor progressed slowly. She struck the perfect balance of calmness and tenderness while pushing me to stay strong and reminding me of the end goal. She was my angel, my advocate. I have never felt so loved and cared for in my life. Patrick felt exactly the same. During the labor Manon also took beautiful photographs and wrote out the progression of my labor and birth which ended up being a four-page typed document. How in the world she was able to do that while being absolutely present for us still blows my mind!We could feel how completely engaged and honored Manon was to be part of our life-changing journey. She is a truly genuine, good-hearted, loving soul. We would, without a doubt, ask her to be our doula during our next pregnancy. Manon played a huge part in bringing our sweet baby girl, Amelia, into this world with love. We will forever be grateful to her and couldn't imagine this experience without her. We love you, Manon!
Melinda is a beautiful soul with a wealth of knowledge about postpartum mood disorder. She was very caring and gave me hope in a time when I felt torn down. She gave me skills to take care of my baby girl, help with my overwhelming anxiety and help with nutrition as my anxiety was causing severe weight loss. She did such a good job that later I was able to help other postpartum moms on a warm line. She truly was a lifesaver and her positive presence in my life caused a ripple effect for others. I don't think there is anything greater you can say about someone. My daughter is now 13. Every once in a while I run into Melinda and it reminds me of all she did for me, not just in a time of crisis, but the good that spilled over into to my life from my experience with her. I wish you the best Melinda. Keep on changing the world. Allison Grace, MA, CHt
