Self Care is Health Care
Earlier on, my nursing practice in the hospital setting was dedicated to helping people adjust to life with a chronic illness. Along the way, I discovered for myself that a mindfulness meditation practice helped me live a life of greater balance, connection and ease. With more training I began teaching Jon Kabat-Zinn's curriculum, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Then, learning about mindful movement, I became certified to teach Integral Qigong and Tai Chi Easy. Now, as a Senior Trainer with the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi, I also teach others how to share Tai Chi in their communities. I weave mindfulness practices into my Qigong and Tai Chi classes and particularly enjoy introducing these health enhancing practices to beginners, to people facing health challenges, and to people beginning to establish a meditation practice. Prior to COVID you could find me teaching in Sarasota churches, hospitals, schools, organizations, and to individuals in their own homes. Now I live in Lisbon, Portugal and my classes are on Zoom.
I have always been a nurse. At this time in my life I am focused on helping folks develop self-care practices and habits that will help them live long and vital lives.
From the very first Qigong and Tai Chi class, people describe feeling relaxed--and at the same time more energetic.
These practices are within everyone's reach. I'd like to facilitate your discovery.
