I am fortunate to have met Nate and over the last few years I have experienced his presence in various capacities. To summarize, he is nothing short of stellar. He pours his heart in everything he does. His penchant for helping people and ability to listen, observe and process shows up in everything he does. I have learned so much under his guidance during my yoga teacher training at Almaden Yoga. His classes are challenging yet very meditative. His understanding of the human anatomy empowers him to carefully hit the right spots in Thai Massage. For the wealth of knowledge & empathy that Nate has, his spiritual workshops and guided meditations provide a safe space to reflect deeply on our inner challenges and overcome them with grace and agility. I often like to say, “I need a little bit of Nate dose in my life”.
I had never having a Thai massage but doing yard work that is taxing on my neck, back, and legs at 50; I reached out for Nate’s expertise. During his first visit, he advised that if he did it right, I should be an Energizer bunny at work and sleep soundly that night. Sure enough, I was all energy, no pain, slept like a baby and deeply in the mattress. I prescheduled a future massage four days later, as I was going to be doing heavy labor in the yard, and figured I’d be broken before his next visit. Instead he shows up, after a drastic difference to the yard; yet I know not why you’re here, as I have zero pain. Effective that first visit I was sold on his services. His first adjustment, as I call it, took 20 years easy off this body, been seeing him consistently every two weeks since. Highly recommend Nate as he is personable, professional, trustworthy, and knowledgable. about what pressure point affects what issue. No lubricants, no oils, no clean up, just a relaxing massage, with some of the simplest exercises or stretches; yet all make a HUGE difference in you. You owe it to yourself to do it at least once…you’ll more than likely become a regular.
I have known Nathan from the time he was a student at Almaden Yoga and I have been his student since he began teaching four years ago. ‘Contemplative Hatha,’ is how I would sum up Nathan’s way of teaching yoga. He braids four strands in his teaching: asanas, meditation, journaling (here I am using the word loosely to mean all that he does in his Grateful Heart courses, not just writing down one’s thoughts in the little book), and finally, massage. All are present individually and together at any given time thus covering multiple aspects of the physical and the subtle body. Yoga practice with Nathan is a harmonious experience; it is about the joy of being in becoming. When he teaches asanas, Nathan’s sutra is ‘less is more;’ he is all about building from ground up; no unnecessary hurry here: find your sea legs first and then move. However, movement is only secondary. Breath is the be all and end all, the force and the field. He never forgets to remind you to breathe deeply, to enjoy the breath as it moves the limbs and charges the heart and mind. Occasionally, he interlaces yogasanas with Qi gong, extending the field of energy in a different direction. Practising with him, I have learnt to stretch and spread the toes to ground myself firmly and to balance; because he reiterates it constantly, I have learnt to make movement and pose secondary to breath, to yield to Qi for strength and stability. Lastly, there is the narrative that accompanies every session: Nathan’s philosophical comments lightly peppered with a wry note or a soft chuckle here and there because of which I have been able to bring my body into a better state of balance with the mind than ever before. Imagination plays a central role in Nate’s meditation practices. He is deep into non-dualism and evokes lovely images from the natural world to lead the yielding self through levels of awareness into its inner space and beyond, into a deep quiet. It is a truly situating and rejuvenating experience. From time to time, I reach out for that image of a pure, untouched space deep in the silent forest to bring my blood pressure down. Often at night, I log into one of his videos to glide into restful slumber. Through his Grateful Heart courses, Nathan offers fun, simple strategies for clean and effective living; he provides the words to reimagine yourself as a beautiful, purposeful, creative being. I have taken the six week Living with Grateful Heart course and it taught me to look at myself again, to remember who I am and want to be (you tend to forget it when you are constantly thinking of how others perceive you). His course taught me to be present to myself, deeply and consistently. I learnt to accept myself as I am, not in a manner of consolation but as a matter of pride. I got back on my path leaving behind any fears and doubts. I had massages from Nathan in the good old days when one could. Since COVID, I have done a couple of self massages with him on Zoom. He brings to massage the strength of asana practice, the generous heart and love of his courses, and the calm of his meditation process to revitalize the body along the various channels. A good teacher makes you hungry for more, and Nathan does just that. He is now my guru. I look forward to many more years of learning with him.

Thai Massage (Thai yoga therapy)
Traditional Thai Massage is a wonderfully relaxing, rejuvenating and healing therapeutic modality. It is not rough. It is not soft. It is just the right amount that your body can receive while relaxing into it. Acupressure, massage, rocking, twisting, pulling, stretching and energy work are integrated into this art.

About me

www.BeTogetherYoga.com

I dove into the healing arts during the most difficult part of my life. I wanted to find a better way to live. Since then my life has changed dramatically for the better. It hasn't been easy, but every effort has been well worth it. I began with yoga. First as a curious student and then as an even more curious teacher. I co-taught two 200-hr yoga teacher trainings before the pandemic.

I then learned Thai massage and stepped away from my full-time job as a sports performance trainer. Massage is something that is very natural and easy for me. I am told by people that I "know exactly what to do." I smile and know that I really don't know at all. I just connect with them on a deeper level and let intuition guide me. Massage with me is relaxing, rejuvenating, and therapeutic. I am there with you 100% of the time.

I then began to teach meditation and create spiritual courses because of a demand to do so. This has been so fulfilling for me and others, especially during the pandemic. I have connected and reconnected with people that I wouldn't have otherwise. Thank god for the world wide web!! My teachings are powerful because they come from my experience and I am honest. I don't try and be holy! We learn together by being real together and connecting with groups in my courses is one of my absolute favorite things to do :-D

I am here to be as open, clear, and loving as possible, and share that with everyone I meet. I hope to meet you too!

My Philosophy of Care

My life got to a point of deep sadness and anger in my mid 20s due to intense family difficulties. I didn't want to live that way, so I made changes. Yoga and Ram Dass opened me up to an entirely new way of viewing myself and the world. I began to feel more love for myself and much more connected to other people. When this happens it is only natural to want to share it and show people this possibility too.

It's obvious how much suffering and separation there is in the world right now. We need, more than anything, to understand how to be at peace with ourselves. Only then can we bring peace into our relationships and the world.

What You Can Expect On Your First Visit

After a client's first massage they feel amazing. It's a mixture of feeling relaxed and energized that you could call rejuvenation. Pain largely disappears (temporarily) after one visit and there is a spaciousness throughout the body.

After yoga and meditation people feel very present, calm, and centered. My yoga classes emphasize breath and efficiency so you don't over-exert yourself. People are often surprised at how physically and mentally challenging it is to be gentle with oneself.

My Inspiration

It's like no other massage you've had. It's not even like any other Thai massage you've had. This is not a rough massage by any means, but it will for sure open you up. I use enough pressure for you to feel it, but not so much to where you cannot relax. I am not here to torture you ;-) I incorporate stretching, pulling, massaging, pressing, rocking, acupressure, and energy work. You will feel relaxed, energized, and maybe years younger when we finish!

Nate was one of the teachers in my Yoga teacher training class (YTT) and I have also worked with Nate on his multiple offerings. I've taken many hatha yoga classes, had a few massages and took the journaling course. I always love speaking with Nate because whenever I've asked questions, I've never felt judged or told how I should feel. He actually hears what the question is. I haven't found this with many other teachers. His massages always made me feel loved, supported and relaxed. He always made me a cup of tea afterwards too. :-) His journaling classes were very profound. The Gratitude course helped me think of gratitude a bit more differently than I had before. I actually have changed my prayer before my meals to be more intent on thanking and blessing the people or animals that have provided my meal. You'll understand this more if you decide to take the gratitude course. ;-) I highly recommend Nate for all the beautiful offerings that he provides. The Journey On podcast is pretty good , too!
Nate is amazing at everything he does . I always look forward to seeing him . He has such light and positive energy . After one of his massages I feel like I’m floating on a cloud . He’s truly the best .
I have enjoyed the privilege of participating in three of Nate's breathwork/meditation/gratitude courses. In them, we practiced many tools for self-improvement including gratitude journaling, meditation, mindfulness, creative visualization, conscious reflection and intention-setting, and several others, all for the purpose of exploring the self and building an abundance of love from within. My journey for self-acceptance and abundance of spirit gained clearer direction, tangible methods, and a distinct example of the peace it can bring (aka, Nate himself) under Nate's guidance. His style is participatory, encouraging, and kind. I wholeheartedly endorse Nate's classes, and I am certain his Yoga and Thai Massage offerings are just as healing as the courses I took with him.
Nate is my yoga instructor. He teaches people to connect mind and body through movements and breathing. The meditation part of his teaching is so healing and powerful. It has helped me to cope with my anxiety big. I also learnt so much from his workshops on mindful living and gratitude. You can tell that his teaches from his heart and he is always there for you! I also had Thai massage from Nate. I felt he "designed" the massage for me as he pays attention on how I felt on each part of my body. It was so relaxing afterwards. I have learnt so much from Nate and it helped me to live in a more mindful way. Nate is patient, compassionate, genuine and fun ! I would recommend him to anyone!
Nathan’s technique is very different then I’ve ever had. With a mixture of stretching, pressure healing, breathing, flexibility, relaxation, releasing stress, joint, lower back and knee pain. Also his Technique has helped my arthritis. So grateful I found him.
I’ve been an enthusiast of massage therapy for many years. Nate’s Thai massage technique is my favorite. With Nate, you get the relaxing muscle massage, but more importantly and enjoyable is the muscle and joint stretching and muscle lengthening he performs. To me it is best described as what a Yoga massage may feel like. In the end, I feel like he has performed a “road map of relief and better being” on me!
I had a lot of stress in my body so it was very tight. Nate was better than expected...I so I recommend him...you will not regret it!!! He really listened to me. He was also on time and professional with a personal touch. The Thai massage eased my anxiety and stress.
Nate is a kindred soul and has a genuine desire to connect and help others. I had been an occasional yoga student until I encountered Nate's classes. I love the way he incorporates breath worth, QiGong, and mindfulness to the flow, mixing it up and always creating space to feel what is best for my body. I have also taken various journaling and gratitude courses with Nate and have loved each one. I have been blown away with the depth of content and Nate's leadership ability. I highly recommend Nate as a course leader, yoga instructor, meditation guide and encourage anyone considering any of his offerings to go for it, you will be in great hands!
I have had Nate both as a yoga instuctor and for Thai massage. Let me tell you, he excels at both. He is very gentle and loving with his approach to both, yet the results are SO powerful. His yoga teaches patience as each asana builds from the last. His Thai massage yields an amazing release from point-work, stretches, rocking and breathwork -- a technique I havent experienced at ANY Thai Massage establishment here in Santa Clara County. Nate is soft spoken, well-educated, compassionate and better than able to help you reach your goal(s). Rest assured, you're in good hands when you book with Nate.
Nate is excellent in his craft! He finds out the details of what you need before he starts each session, then he pulls from his knowledge of physiognomy and repertoire of yoga, and Tai-chi, etc. to address your needs and to forestall further problems. Over the months,, amazingly on Zoom, my body is healthier and stronger. His guided meditations and workshops are precious: they prompt and provide space for self-examination and deep reflection—even dancing— leaving you feeling light, renewed, worthy, and more prepared to deal with life's complexities. I'm so glad I got to benefit from his wisdom, gentility, and expertise.
I've been working with Nate for a few years now. I attended his yoga class for the first time about 3 years ago. From the very first class, I appreciated how he encouraged all of us to listen to our bodies and come back to the breath as we move. His classes are a mix of asana, breath work, and meditation. I always leave feeling really good in my body and mind. I started seeing him monthly for Thai massage 2 years ago. Before we start each session, he will ask what my concerns are so he can target those areas. I've benefited greatly from our sessions. I find that the massages are complimentary to my yoga practice. When he started offering courses, I signed up for them because I love working with him. I've learned so much from him. He is kind, compassionate, and always willing to help. He has this ability to hold space for people. From the moment you meet him, you can sense that he is dedicated to helping people.
I’ve worked with Nate since before COVID, and his technique is integrated with a beautiful spirituality and a sensitivity to the body. Nate brings focus and compassion into his modalities and is able to work with the body instead of “at” the body. For those who are looking for a deep “tissue” massage, I would recommend being upfront about communicating desires for more profound stretches and firmer pressure. I find that I’ve moved past the sort of “brute force” massages of my youth and enjoy the holistic approach Nate brings to the session. I typically request Nate for 90 min, and I find it to be the perfect amount of TLC for my body.
I have had massages and reflexology for many years. Nate’s treatments are so different then what I’ve experienced! Leaves your body and mind in a really tranquil place.
Hands down best massage and experience I’ve ever had. Nate is so great at what he does and he is passionate about it and it shows. I’m always tense in my back and he walks me through my breathing and helps me relax. All his studies he has done really show in the quality of his work. Anytime I am in town I will always book an appointment with Nate. I can’t recommend him enough.

I'm not a massage person. I've had them sporadically throughout my life and I've never been drawn to return for more. Until now. Nate's massage is different. It's not about "breaking up toxins" by randomly applying an inordinate amount of pressure. Nor is it just a "feel good" massage that quickly fades. Nate's massage sessions have a purpose, and it seems like every move, every stretch, is designed for a particular part of the body, depending on your level of tolerance and flexibility. I emerge feeling calmed but energized - not sure how that works, but it does. And Nate's personality is uniquely funny yet spiritual. Give this a chance - you won't regret it!
Something has shifted in me. I'm reaching less for outside things to make me happy. I look around and I see beauty and comfort and I am so grateful for what I have. I have family. I am connecting more with my body and meditation and I think it’s really helped me to slow down but keep going.
I have learnt many powerful tools to make changes in my life from this [Living With A Grateful Heart] course. My mindset has been slowly shifting from self-criticizing to self-appreciation. I am more aware of where my intention and attentions are, which brings a lot of calmness and peace. I know that there is gratitude in everything and everywhere.
Working with Nate is always such a pleasure! He is a very gracious teacher that allows others to heal in their own time. Never feel as though I'm being told how to do something. Thank you Nate for allowing me to be me (big hug)!
