Somatic Trauma Therapist

AwakeAbiding.com

I deeply value and honor each being who comes to me, after often having exhausted cognitive modalities of therapy. I work with the totality of mind and body. Body being the depository of all trauma.

Somatic Trauma Therapy
Our nervous systems need a rest and a pause. Realignment occurs. Rest can happen in any session. Alignment takes time. Revamping the nervous system takes ongoing work. It is my wish that all beings be free from suffering and live in harmony. What a world that would be! Happy to give either session on a sliding scale.

Insight meditation
Settling into yourself can be very quieting. It brings quiet and peace even if it is for brief moments. Through ongoing practice, this begins to permeate your life. You can learn to be strong and still through the vicissitudes of life.

My Philosophy of Care

I bring the whole being of the person I work with and teach them skills to gradually shed layers within the body and then the mind. Through this gradual work, they come into better self regulation and freedom from suffering. The foundation of Somatic psychology is Buddhist. The body is the depository of all experience which is in the first foundation of Mindfulness in Buddhism. The approach is naturalistic. I draw both from my somatic trauma training and on Buddhist psychology.

What You Can Expect On Your First Visit

An interview of what brings them to me. A history of what previous work they may have done, and where they are at in this moment. What are their goals for themselves and if not, are they willing to work on goals and healing.

My Inspiration

A childhood experience left me wondering how one can be separated from the Universe. The search continued. A child with autism was born and I was in therapy. The therapist was Buddhist and understood my questions, search and the trauma I was living with. I started to meditate, learn, went through many trainings, was invited to become a teacher. It was evident in training that we needed to understand trauma more deeply and i wanted to go deeper so i studied trauma to help those who are suffering
