I am a practitioner of the Trager® Approach, a Reiki Master, Energy Medicine practitioner, licensed massage therapist, and licensed social worker. As a bodyworker for many years, being able to bring various tools and perspectives to our sessions means the work stays vibrant as it meets clients’ needs in multiple ways. I am grateful to see transformations in my clients so often – finding new mobility, losing long-standing pain, remembering forgotten joy, navigating life’s transitions, or simply destressing.
Based in movement and meditation, the Trager® Approach is bodywork that lets the nervous system slow down, the tissues find their easy optimal tone, and the whole system find its balance and peace. As Dr. Milton Trager would say, it is like “basking in the vast ocean of pleasantness.” It has been used for decades to address injuries and stress, as well as chronic pain, neuromuscular conditions (such as Cerebral Palsy or Muscular Sclerosis), to support performing artists and athletes, and more.
In addition to work on a table, Trager offers the opportunity to explore movement as we sit and walk around the room. This is the part of every bodywork session that lets the changes/benefits of the tablework to seat in the client’s body and mind so they last a very long time – maybe forever!
This part of the work, which Dr. Trager called Mentastics®, is so beneficial that we also practice it without tablework, that is, we have sessions that are purely exploring movement together around the room. These give tremendous benefit to clients who learn more about their bodies and movement patterns, and how to find and support patterns that bring them more freedom, support, ease, lightness, and just plain fun! We can do this one-on-one or in a group. And, we can do it on Zoom! My Mindful Movement class is offered via Zoom every Friday morning at 9am. Contact me for more info.
Energy Medicine focusses on our energy bodies - think aura, chakras, meridians, and flows of life energy in and around the body. There are many ways this is done, drawing on old and new practices from around the world. My training brings in traditions mainly from Japan, Tibet, and North America. Clients report benefits such as clarity of mind, pain relief, emotional release, increased energy, faster healing of injuries, and a sense of peace and calm.
