John & Sabine Therapeutic Massage
We are touched by so much more than hands on skin, we are touched through all of our senses. Listening connects. Being heard is healing.
I was born into two worlds and grew up speaking two different languages: German and English. Perhaps this cultural divide was the original catalyst in searching out greater balance between outer world experiences and inner world awarenesses. I became a Bodyworker after years of travel, work and adventure in England, Germany and Arizona. In 2005, Montana - and husband John - won my heart. I have a small, 22 year old Senegal Parrot, Little Bird. And I have an extraordinary mentor and friend, who I won’t name here, but she’ll know when she reads this….
My favorite emotion is Gratitude. My favorite colors are Life and Diversity.
There is no single inspiring moment to name. It has been - continues to be - a process. In childhood, and later academically, I was strongly drawn to art, image, myth, symbols and the sacred. Even so, my life wasn’t finding a clear path and I moved from job to job, adventure to adventure. Though good at gathering an array of life experiences and bits of knowledge, I remained fragmented in self-knowledge, purpose and presence. Physically, I suffered from migraines, low back spasms, depression and anxiety. Finding relief in the accomplished hands of first-rate bodyworkers, I was often inspired by their great skill, their unique stories and their capacity to facilitate therapeutic change.
Reiki was the first modality I studied. After receiving the Reiki Master degree, I began studying with a gifted Ceremonialist and Medicine Woman, who became a guide for many years. I enrolled in Massage School and eventually discovered Craniosacral Therapy. Here, I realized, was what I had been searching for: the framework and language for an experiential understanding of the creative union between subtle energy, anatomical structure and inner work. In the art of Craniosacral Therapy, my life path and stories have found an integrated home.
“During our first phone call I realized the warmth doesn’t originate from her hands, it starts with her spirit. She listens and gently prompts with amazing awareness and insight.”
"Remarkably, she knew exactly when to say “there you go” when I felt a shift in my body."
“It was very interesting for my body. I felt great after the session!”
"She is able to bypass my thinking mind to speak directly to my nervous system."
"Gentleness and intention came through in her voice and words and healing began (despite the phone)."
“Craniosacral Therapy via tele-therapy worked for me!"
This work is inspired by what I have learned as a Massage Therapist and as a practitioner of Craniosacral Therapy (CST).
CST is a well established form of integrative hands-on bodywork that releases tension deep in the nervous system. Because of its holistic and multi-faceted approach, aspects of CST are well suited for facilitating the shift of deeply held patterns of stress while working long-distance (tele-therapy). Therapeutic Imagery & Dialoging is a specific technique used by CST Therapists to facilitate a more direct awareness of how stress and pain patterns are being held in the body and how these patterns can be released. The Therapeutic Imagery & Dialoging process is central to a successful long-distance session. Through these body-based techniques as well as through deep listening, we navigate the unique language of your inner landscape for the purpose of awareness, release and healing.
In a tele-therapy session, Therapist and Client connect through the resonance of the spoken word - touch through our hearing senses - and through specific and carefully selected questions that invite the client to return to the sensations in the body again and again. By inviting the busy thinking mind to rest, we are able to connect more deeply with the intrinsic wisdom of the bodymind. When deeper parts of self are invited to be felt and heard, greater awareness - and energy - becomes available for healing and renewal.
Greater clarity emerges by way of a ‘shift’ or release in the nervous system and tissues. An ‘a-ha moment’ opens into conscious awareness, facilitating resolution, relaxation and a boost to whole-body health. This reduces stress, thereby improving immune system function, heart rate, digestion, sleep, breath and more.
