Meeting Sophia was a true gift. I had been trying to get pregnant for over a year when I first met her...I was admittedly imbalanced...working too much- trying to do too much. Sophia's insight, knowledge, and calm clear energy, blended with her Ayurvedic teaching, not only helped me balance my life, but the principles just made sense. I instantly felt more mindful and lighter when putting her teaching into practice....and became pregnant the following month. I continue to see Sophia for massage and Ayervedic teachings for both myself and my baby boy. She is a true gem.
Sophia offers a depth of knowledge that only a lifetime of studying and practicing can provide. I met Sophia at a 1 hour ayurveda intro class and immediately knew I wanted to learn from her. She quickly became an important confidant, teacher and mentor in my life. Sophia’s yoga therapy sessions are always different - they varied based on my needs. Sometimes they were active and focused on asana, sometimes they were discussion based. Sophia used yoga philosophy to help me look within and make some challenging decisions. Sophia listens keenly, accurately reflects what I say, and offers sophisticated insights. Sophia is a gift. I wholehearted recommend her to friends and strangers alike

About me

As a Massage Therapist for the past 30 years, I have looked for a way to expand my practice of therapeutic bodywork. I am interested in a healing system that takes the complexity of the human beings into account. The ayurvedic and yogic tradition answered my longing.

I came to Maine in 1994 to pursue my dream of homesteading, and of living a simple and joyful life. I love to eat fresh food right out of the garden whenever possible; my husband and I grow most of it. Being in nature, hiking, swimming (when the water is warm), gardening, traveling and exploring the world are some of my favorite activities.
I am passionate about teaching women about self care and self healing. How to use traditional and natural medicine to support ourselves and our families.
My education started in the arts. I came to the U.S.A in 1982 to attend The Maryland Institute College of Art and earned a BFA in 1986. I was also drawn to the healing arts, which led me to a series of school from which I graduated: The Potomac Myotherapy Institute, The Kripalu School of Yoga and Ayurveda and The Yoga Life Institute of New Hampshire.
In 2018, I spent the year mentoring with Hari Kirin Kalsa with Art and Yoga and my latest education is with Thomas Moore on the care of the soul at Kripalu.
I believe that health is the free expression of our true nature. Yoga and Ayurveda have a long tradition of wisdom to help us live more fully in an increasingly complicated world.
Sophia is a member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association and is a licensed Massage Therapist.
