Though I am a therapist, you could think of me as a partner helping you navigate the difficulty and pain you are experiencing.
I provide psychotherapy and hypnotherapy services to individuals and families in Hernando County, Pasco County and surrounding areas. My goal is to create a compassionate, safe environment and develop trusting relationships, allowing my clients to more easily share their concerns.
I became interested in helping others after my own experience with psychotherapy many years ago. Like many of us, I was unable to resolve some distressing issues on my own. Working with a knowledgable, compassionate therapist helped uncover my painful resistance and limiting beliefs. Through this process, I discovered the inner resources which gave me the courage to face my fears and affect positive change and growth. Now, it is my privilege to be present as others become empowered with the knowledge and tools to experience their own sense of personal growth and inner peace.
Attaining a degree in Women's Studies from University of South Florida challenged me to think critically and to respect diversity and each person's unique experience.
Achieving my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University gave me the knowledge and tools to recognize and address a wide range of mental health issues across the lifespan.
For over 30 years I have studied a variety of philosophies, teachers and spiritual traditions, including Buddhist, Taoist and Hindu philosophies and with various indigenous healers. Along with my own upbringing in the Christian tradition, this exploration deepened my understanding of why humans suffer and expanded my perspectives of how that suffering can be relieved.
Advanced training in hypnosis with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the Florida Society of Clinical Hypnosis has increased my ability to help clients safely explore and resolve issues that previously eluded them.
My combined complimentary and traditional training along with a depth of life and work experience resulted in an inclusive and non-judgmental foundation on which I have built my current practice. Broadly speaking, I have a humanistic, strengths-based approach and utilize an eclectic mix of strategies, such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Techniques and Art and Play Therapy techniques, combinations tailored for each clients' unique needs.
